Kristen Hammett, D.V.M., is President-Elect, North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA). She is also a veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Waynesville in Waynesville, North Carolina, where she has practiced veterinary medicine since 1988. Dr. Hammett enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, including surgery, internal medicine and canine reproduction and breeding. A Waynesville native, she received her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. In 1996, she led the Animal Hospital of Waynesville to become the first American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practice west of Asheville. She has two daughters, Jesse Marie and Savannah, and an assortment of pets.
