Shawn McGill, MSW, LSW received her Masters Degree is social work from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. Over the course of the last 15 years, Shawn has built her practice on a positive, person-centered approach that focuses on the needs of the individual rather than the individual’s diagnosis. Although Shawn initially began practice in a non-profit social service agency, she is presently the owner of her own consulting firm. In private practice, Shawn specializes in providing supports for adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) who face complex behavioral challenges including problematic sexual behaviors. The turning point in Shawn’s career came when her son was diagnosed with autism in 2006. This event propelled Shawn to become an advocate for children and adults with ASDs/IDDs to ensure that these individuals are given the opportunity to be educated and supported based on their unique needs.
