Headaches come and go very often in our lives and usually they are not something serious to worry about, as many reasons can cause them in the course of our daily routine.
Common causes of headaches include nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and certainly, intense stress.
However, there is a question for the case that these headaches are extremely frequent and very intense?
Occasional headaches do usually last for a short time and we can easily fight them, unlike those persistent and painful headaches, appearing almost every day, making the life of any person extremely difficult.
Headaches are not all similar neither have the same intensity and importance.
In general, headaches are classified into 2 main categories:
Headaches is a common problem, affecting a large part of the population.
However, what’s wrong with so many people suffering from headaches?
When a Headache is More Serious & What we should know?
A number reaching 15-20% of the total population suffers from frequent headaches, not an occasional headache, but quite often (happening almost every day) headaches are interfering with the normal functioning of the individual, so complicating the organism’s functions.
However, of this 20%, only the 1% has headaches based on real and tangible pathological causes, that is, only 5 out of 100 cases have headaches due to other illnesses.
So what’s the case of the remaining 95 suffering from headaches and not being able to identify the cause?
Should we worry about headaches?
How are these related to the individual’s immune system?
A frequent and severe headache is certainly a major problem for any individual. Chronic daily headaches are indeed a disease and should be evaluated by a specialist, since as mentioned, in some cases they might “hide” serious causes.
Depending on the doctor’s assessment on a person’s headache, a special treatment -the most suitable one- applies.
In case the neurological examinations indicate a problem, further investigation and analysis follow for identifying the cause.
Many people experience frequent headaches due to taking a high quantity of painkillers. Regular painkillers make the headache resistant to its treatment methods, making more difficult the fight for its elimination, so making their appearance more often.
For this reason, the moderate use of painkillers is recommended and only when this is the case.
This form of headache is not quite common, occurring on one side of the head, usually with a moderate intensity with sporadic attacks of severe pain.
The case of cumulative headache has a long duration (usually a few weeks) and appears on a daily basis.
The pain is usually located on one side of the head, reflects from behind the eye to temple and inside the ear.
In many cases, an episode of severe cumulative headache may be accompanied by tears in the eye (on the side affected by the headache), redness, drooping eyelids and difficulty in seeing. Occasionally there is a running nose (from the nostril of the affected part of the head).
About 1 in 10,000 people suffer from cumulative headaches, while migraines and tension headaches are very common (a headache pressing on both sides of the temples, like a tantrum tightening the head inside).
The more painful these headaches are, it is more certain that they are associated with more serious illnesses or problems endangering a person’s life.
Unlike secondary headaches, things are more serious and certainly more worrying.
Secondary headaches are provoked by a disorder in organism, which needs to be identified and treated.
As shown, the causes of a secondary headache are quite serious, leaving no room for “excuses” and “evasions”
An imaging test, a magnetic brain may indicate a serious problem and determine its treatment method.
In general – as already pointed out – when a headache persists for many days of the month then a medical examination is necessary.
However, there are some signs, as shown below, that you should definitely worry about and force you to seek medical advice:
Migraine is not a simple headache, it is a more serious disorder causing pain and despair in many people in their daily lives. Chronic migraines can even cause serious neurological problems, dementia, psychological illness, seizures or even strokes.
The main treatment for migraines is medication. The most commonly prescribed drugs are drugs used for treating seizures. However, these drugs simply manage to reduce the severity of the problem in the short term, without fighting the underlying cause of migraines.
According to official scientific studies, migraine has many common characteristics with other serious brain disorders, a finding quite worrying.
Disorders causing a migraine in the neurological function of brain include reduced blood flow, vascular dementia or even memory loss.
Here is a scientific finding – migraine is one of the top 20 diseases causing a form of disability.
Sometimes a migraine is simple, while other times is accompanied by an aura, with the most common type that without an aura, presenting a higher level of aggression.
Could a weak immune system be the cause of frequent headaches, or the frequent headaches weaken the immune system?
The immune system is the body’s defense against viruses, infections, bacteria and a variety of diseases.
Poor self-care (poor nutrition, insufficient sleep, intense stress in everyday life, health problems, psychological causes) may weaken the immune system causing a variety of health problems.
When the immune system becomes “sick”, the organism is more “vulnerable” to “attacks”.
Many external factors may threaten the organism easily, causing problems in the normal organism’s functioning.
White blood cells (or leukocytes) are those indicating our immune system’s effectiveness.
When white blood cells show in a lower concentration, the organism’s immune system has become weak.
There are symptoms signaling a weak immune system.
Among them, we find the frequent headaches, occurring frequently with high intensity associated with either a cold (which is often a sign of an immune disease) or a weak state/ fatigue (indicating a tired body).
In some cases, headaches may relate to allergens, which for the larger part of the scientific community – are also associated with a weak immune system.
However, that doesn’t mean that a high-intensity headache can’t harm the immune system.
Excessive stress on the body may reduce the immune system and its defenses.
In no case, we should neglect a check of chronic headaches.
An immediate medical examination is recommended and not the unnecessary use of painkillers, eventually deteriorating the condition instead of helping it.
An additional recommendation is to follow a proper & complete nutritional program (rich in nutrients), a good & balanced rest & sleep program, and certainly to avoid abuse and eliminate stress (as much as possible) from the individual’s daily routine.
Finally, a good natural nutritional supplement boosts your immune system and provides many beneficial nutrients.
A completely natural nutritional supplement to enhance the health and immune defense of the body is the best suggestion.
Especially the modern person – living under crazy rhythms in daily life & increased stress – needs even more an extra health boost.
