Hey there! Let me explain why you should steer clear of Ant Network

How‘s it going? With all the buzz around cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology these days, I bet you‘ve wondered whether you should get in on the action. New cryptos are popping up every day promising great returns. But not all of them are what they seem.

One I‘ve been investigating called Ant Network has raised some serious red flags in my analysis. I wanted to share with you directly why I think you‘re better off avoiding this concerning app.

What is Ant Network exactly?

In a nutshell, Ant Network is a mobile app launched in March 2021 that lets you "mine" a virtual currency called Ant Coin. You just tap a button once or twice a day, and boom – you earn coins. Supposedly once you accumulate 1,000 Ant Coins, you can exchange them for real cryptocurrency.

The creators claim they plan to eventually build a censorship-resistant video sharing platform similar to YouTube. They say both viewers and creators could earn Ant Coins as an incentive. Nice idea in theory, but there are a bunch of problems here. Let me break it down.

How Ant Network mining actually works

When Ant Network first launched, you earned Ant Coins at a rate of 4 coins per hour. But there were milestone drops planned along the way:

  • At 10,000 users, the rate dropped to 2 coins per hour
  • At 500,000 users, it dropped again to 1 coin per hour
  • Further reductions planned at 1 million, 5 million, etc users

So the mining rewards keep getting smaller over time. All while the anonymous Ant Network creators generate revenue from users purchasing "upgrades" to increase their mining rate (more on that shadiness later).

To put some numbers behind this, in May 2021 when there were around 10,000 users, the mining rate halved from 4 coins per hour down to 2. By June 2021 at 50,000+ users, it halved again down to just 1 coin per hour [1]. At that rate, it would take you over 40 days of continuous mining to earn the 1,000 Ant Coin withdrawal minimum.

And that timeframe keeps getting longer as more users join. I crunched the numbers – it‘s designed so only a tiny fraction of miners will ever hit the 1,000 coin threshold before the next drop. Feels a bit like a carrot being dangled on a stick, doesn‘t it?

Massive red flags suggest Ant Network is a scam

Now that you understand how Ant Network functions, let‘s talk about why I believe this thing is a scam you should steer clear of. There are some massive red flags here:

No transparency

The creators of Ant Network are completely anonymous. Their website lists no names, no bios, no way to contact them. Even sketchy projects usually have public leadership teams to inspire some level of trust. But not these guys. I don‘t know about you, but I‘m not handing my data or money to unnamed strangers.

"Upgrades" make them real money

Remember how I mentioned Ant Network pushes users to purchase upgrades to increase mining speed? Conveniently these upgrades cost real money – anywhere from $10 to $100 worth of crypto. So the company is already profiting, while users just accumulate virtual coins with no inherent value. Super sketchy.

No accountability

Not only are the creators anonymous, Ant Network provides no customer support. Users complain on the Google Play store about getting hacked, losing access to their accounts, and seeing their earned coins disappear. No responses or help provided by the company [2]. With no accountability, I wouldn‘t trust them as far as I could throw them.

No privacy policy

Nowhere on their site or app do they post a privacy policy. That means you have no idea how they are collecting and using your personal data. And they almost certainly are gathering data on you – phone identifiers, usage stats, etc. Lack of a policy is illegal in most countries, so major yikes.

Amateur hour over there

You know how most apps let you reset your password if you get logged out? Yeah, apparently the folks behind Ant Network haven‘t figured out how to implement a basic password reset feature. According to their own FAQ, you have to email them to reset it [3]. Not exactly inspiring confidence in their technical skills.

Taking on YouTube…lol

I almost forgot to mention Ant Network‘s crazy claims that they‘re going to take on YouTube with their own censorship-free video platform. First of all, good luck toppling a monopoly like that. And second, nothing they‘ve launched so far indicates they have the skills or resources to compete here. It‘s a joke.

The bottom line

When you step back and look at all the sketchy behaviors and lack of transparency, Ant Network just screams scam. I wanted to warn you directly because I don‘t think you should waste even a minute of your time on this flaky operation.

Life is short! Spend your energy on crypto projects actually trying to do something meaningful, not vaporware and shady apps. If any other questionable platforms cross your radar, feel free to reach out! Happy to help you steer clear of junk as you explore the world of crypto.
