Dr. Winters is an associate professor in the Department of Special Education at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He has been a classroom teacher, tutor, diagnostician, administrator, and tutor/teacher trainer for over 30 years. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators and is a member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Orton Oaks.Dr. Winters currently teaches courses introducing special education to preservice teachers, as well as instructional and assistive technology, writing, language development and disorders, and assessment in special education for preservice special educators and speech language pathologists.Most recently, Dr. Winters has focused much of his writing, presentations, and consultations on assistive technology, especially with iPads.
