After graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Vermont with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Lainie started her career as a special educator. She began by working in a non-public school (NPS) as a teaching assistant. It wasn’t long before she jumped into the classroom teaching her own students, and quickly became a middle and high school English teacher. She obtained her Education Specialist teaching credential and began to work with clients one-on-one. Later, Lainie earned her Master of Arts degree in Special Education, graduating with honors.Lainie Donnell, a Los Angeles native and an ET/P in practice for the last 10 years, brings to her clients an empathic, positive, and enthusiastic approach to facing their learning challenges. Lainie combines her education and special education training with her personal experiences and common sense approach in working with clients to affect greater progress and growth in facing academic difficulty.Lainie is no stranger to academic struggles as she has struggled with her own learning disabilities and ADHD since diagnosed in the 2nd grade. Her experiences as a student have lead Lainie to embrace her challenges and dedicate her career to helping others find ways to compensate for their challenges.Lainie works with middle and high school students and college students with various diagnosed and undiagnosed learning issues, including, but not limited to:Learning Disabilities (LD or SLD)Dyslexia and related reading disordersAuditory processing delaysVisual processing delaysNon-Verbal Learning Disabilities (NVLD)ADHDExecutive Function challengesAdditionally, Lainie is the immediate past president of The International Dyslexia Association of Los Angeles (IDALA). IDALA believes in the creativity and human potential of the dyslexic individual who is often lost due to frustration, lack of information, and insufficient resources. It is the mission of the Los Angeles County Branch of the International Dyslexia Association to provide solutions, opportunities and information in order to enable individuals with dyslexia to reach their potential as creative and contributing members of the community.
