Can Hisuian Pokémon go to Pokémon Sword?

No. As of now, Hisuian forms and regional variants introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus cannot be transferred into Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. Only Pokémon with data already programmed into those games can be brought over.

Why Can‘t Hisuians Go to Sword/Shield?

Sword and Shield were released back in 2019, before any of the Hisuian forms were conceived for Legends: Arceus. So there is no data in those games to support these new regional variants. When you transfer a Pokémon, it‘s data needs to have a corresponding spot to go in the receiving game‘s code.

Without existing data entries for the Hisuian species, there‘s nowhere to store their information. It would be like trying to shove a square block into a round hole – there‘s just no fitting it in!

This technical limitation is why Hisui Pokémon are stranded between their debut region of ancient Sinnoh and the modern Galar region. Like ships passing in the night, their data streams can‘t sync up.

Transfer Compatibility Overview

Here‘s a data table summarizing where Hisuian Pokémon can and can‘t transfer right now:

GameCan Receive Hisuian Transfers?
Pokémon Legends: ArceusYes
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining PearlYes
Pokémon HomeYes
Pokémon SwordNo
Pokémon ShieldNo

So the Hisui Pokédex entries remain bottled up between those three compatible games, unable to venture into Galar or beyond. Their area of transfer is extremely limited compared to most Pokémon.

The Scarlet/Violet Dilemma

As a gaming content creator and lifelong Pokémon fan, the lack of backwards compatibility here is frustrating. I, like many fans, have sunk hours upon hours into training up my Hisuian team in Legends. But now they remain marooned outside of the competitive battling sphere of Sword/Shield online play.

All eyes are looking ahead to Scarlet and Violet to hopefully resolve this dilemma. Game Freak has hinted that connectivity with Pokémon HOME will enable transferring Hisuian species into the Paldea region adventures. But the specifics here are still murky:

  • Will only certain Hisui Pokémon make the jump?
  • Do players need to wait months after launch for HOME connectivity before any transfers work?
  • Can Hisui be brought into Scarlet/Violet directly, or will they need to pitstop in HOME first?

These uncertainties definitely tamp down the hype about importing my cherished Hisuian Goodra or Liligant into the Scarlet/Violet endgame. Game Freak holds the keys to the Hisuian transfer dilemma, and we fans await their judgment with bated breath.

Hisuian Forms – By the Numbers

To illustrate the scope of the Hisuian transfer challenge, let‘s crunch some numbers on new species added in Legends: Arceus:

  • 18 – Number of new Hisuian regional forms
  • 5 – Brand new evolutions of existing species
  • 3 – Mythical Pokémon restricted to Hisui region

That‘s 26 Hisuian Pokémon total that currently cannot go into Sword/Shield or any prior Pokémon titles. And fans have cultivated deep bonds with these unique additions during their Legends adventures.

Having to leave them stranded in HOME while playing Scarlet/Violet would be agonizing. As a content creator, I intend to continue highlighting this pressing issue facing players. The clamor to rectify the Hisuian transfer block will only keep growing.

Why fans are so attached to Hisui Pokémon

To the wider world, these 26 Hisui Pokémon may seem like minor regional quirks. But Legends players deeply love this unique roster that finally shook up some stagnant species:

  • Hisuian Typhlosion sheds the overdone Fire/Ghost-type combo for something fresh
  • Wyrdeer takes the oft-forgotten Stantler to new heights
  • And ghostly Hisuian Zoroark dethrones the ubiquitous Genger as top Dark legendary

These standout designs pop with creative flavor. And their specialized movesets and typings carved out compelling niches previously unfilled. Losing access to them after Legends would leave gaping holes in team building diversity.

Who wouldn‘t pine to ride a majestic Wyrdeer across the sunny Paldean countryside? Or charge into Violet‘s withering Area Zero backed by a vicious Liligant/Tangrowth core? Hisui‘s roster represents the innovative heights Pokémon variety can reach when unchained from conventions. Their absence in future titles would be artistic tragedy.

So in summary – no, Hisui Pokémon cannot currently access Pokémon Sword/Shield. But all fans agree: they MUST inhabit Scarlet/Violet, lest we riot! Game Freak, fix this transfer issue and make Hisui live on! What‘s your opinion on the matter? Let me know in the comments below!
