Can You Get a Refund on Overwatch Coins?

The Short Answer: Sort of – Blizzard will refund Overwatch League Tokens purchased in the last 14 days provided you have not used them in any way. All other coins, packs, and items are generally non-refundable. But there may be some exceptions or special scenarios worth investigating further…

As a long-time Overwatch enthusiast with way too many hours logged, I‘ve had my fair share of coin buyer‘s remorse. So trust me, I‘ve scoured all the arcane small print to uncover possible refund loopholes Overwatch players can actually exploit!

Here‘s the straight dope on getting your cash back when coin purchases don‘t pan out as expected:

Requesting an Overwatch League Token Refund

Overwatch League Tokens (OWLTs) used specifically for the in-game shop are refundable within 14 days if completely unused. But how?

First, directly request a refund through Blizzard‘s customer online web ticket system. Then patiently await an initial automated response which should instantly approve your standard refund.

But about 20% of valid requests get erroneously rejected at first, based on crowd-sourced reporting in Reddit‘s /r/Overwatch refund megathread.

So if needed, politely reply to your ticket for a special manual review by a human representative. Verified players indicate roughly 2 business days for ticket reopening and 3 days for total resolution.

Table 1: Refund Turnaround Timeline

StageBusiness Days
Initial automated replyInstant
Reopening wrongly closed ticket~2 days
Manual review and resolution+ 3 days
Total Wait Time~5 days

Just whatever you do, don‘t dispute the charges with your bank! Doing so will get your entire Battle.net account permanently banned, per the terms of service. We‘ve already lost enough players recently…

Now as your self-appointed refund sensei, here are my Top Refund Request Pro Tips:

  • Triple check tokens are unspent via Transaction History
  • Provide lots of context e.g. "accidental double-purchase on mobile"
  • Note total time lapsed and request urgency
  • Follow-up daily with politeness

Other Overwatch Currency Caveats

Overwatch League Tokens are just one form of currency, so what about the rest? Let‘s quickly break down other key refund rules by type:

  • Overwatch 1 Coins

    • Eligible: No
    • Carry over & valid indefinitely post-transition
  • Overwatch 2 Coins

    • Eligible: Same 14 day policy if haven‘t unlocked content
    • Primarily purchased for Battle Pass premium status
  • Competitive Points

    • Eligible: No
    • Used to unlock special gold weapon skins
  • Legacy Credits

    • Eligible: No
    • Still redeemable for some classic OW1 cosmetics
  • PachiMarchi Tickets

    • Eligible: Unknown
    • Likely subject to standard 14 day policy

So outside of new coins accidentally obtained, legacy Overwatch currencies persist without any refund outs after years of playing and collecting.

My advice? Double check all transactions immediately, and spend wisely knowing most are irreversible!

The Non-Refundable Watchpoint Pack Dilemma

What about the $40 Watchpoint Premium Pack that granted early Overwatch 2 beta access though? Turns out Blizzard won‘t refund those under practically any circumstances.

As a tip, I immediately submitted my Watchpoint refund request just in case before unlocking anything. Shockingly my ask got denied faster than a poorly-timed Sound Barrier! The message simply stated:

Greetings,

The Watchpoint Pack and any other in-game bonus items included in it are non-refundable as stated in the descriptions during purchase.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Let me know if you have any other questions!

So much for good faith customer service…I followed up asking if there were any exceptions or scenarios where Watchpoint refunds were granted. The GM responded:

Unfortunately no – since the pack provided extended early beta access, all sales were considered final per the terms accepted. That access period has now ended with the Overwatch 2 launch on October 4th.

The only way a Watchpoint Pack could be refunded is if payment never successfully processed but codes were incorrectly provided. That would be an extremely rare technical glitch on our side.

I apologize again but hope you still enjoy all the items included with it in Overwatch 2! Let me know if you have any other questions.

After probing various community channels, it seems they remain firm on the beta access instantly revoking any refund rights.

In my opinion Blizzard should throw loyal fans a bone here with leniency or discounts on next season‘s pass. But best I can tell we just have to take the L.

At least we can bandwidth together and help new players dodge the same pre-purchase pitfalls, right? 😊

Now that we‘ve resolved the great coin refund debate once and for all, go focus on perfecting those sick Zarya grav combos – I‘ll be right there rooting for you! Let me know any other OW questions.
