Can Two People Play World of Light in Super Smash Bros Ultimate?

The main World of Light adventure mode is currently single player only. However, up to 4 players can play the Spirit Board mode together through local wireless couch co-op.

As of the last reliably verified information available to me (from the 2.0 update), the World of Light story mode itself still supports only one player at a time. But the associated Spirit Board challenges introduce local co-op for 2-4 players connected on the same wireless network.

Local Wireless Co-Op Specifics

In the Spirit Board mode, each player can:

  • Choose their own fighter from the roster of 74 available characters
  • Customize fighters with unlocked Support Spirits
  • Work cooperatively to complete Spirit challenges
  • Unlock new Primary and Support Spirits

So you can battle spirits and unlock new game content while playing on the same couch. However, only one player at a time can progress through the core World of Light narrative.

Co-Op Availability Details

I do not have access to fully up-to-date official verification on whether these co-op specifics still hold true for Super Smash Bros Ultimate in 2024-2024. Please refer to Nintendo‘s official support site for the latest accurate multiplayer information:

As a passionate gamer without insider access to undisclosed updates, I always recommend cross-referencing my guides with official manufacturer details before making assumptions or purchases. Content shared on unofficial fan sites can easily become outdated.

If substantiated details on the current state of World of Light co-op become available to me, I am happy to produce an updated guide. Please feel free to reach out with any verified information!

For now, I hope this overview of the baseline local wireless functionality provides some insight. 4 player Spirit Board battles are definitely possible. Enjoy rounding up friends and working as a squad to take down challenging enemy spirits!
