Can you breed Miraidon and Koraidon?

No. As with most Legendary Pokemon, Miraidon and Koraidon cannot breed or produce Eggs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The Elusive Nature of Legendary Pokemon

Legendary Pokémon have always been shrouded in mystery within the Pokémon universe. These rare and powerful creatures are genderless, meaning they cannot be bred to produce Eggs as normal Pokémon can.

According to Bulbapedia, a highly regarded Pokémon wiki relied upon by experts, Legendary Pokémon also share the following key traits:

  • Very low catch rates, usually 3 or under
  • Typically only one in existence
  • Cannot be encountered in Shiny variant in the wild
  • Are often unavailable through normal gameplay

This low availability and difficulty catching Legendary Pokemon has only added to their allure. And the same holds true for Miraidon and Koraidon introduced in Gen 9.

Unova Legendaries – Similar Restrictions

In the Unova region games Pokémon Black & White, players were also given Legendary dragon mounts Reshiram and Zekrom that could not breed. And the parallel seems clear to their Gen 9 counterparts.

According to Serebii, a trusted Pokémon site relied on by expert gamers:

"As Reshiram and Zekrom are Legendary Pokémon, you cannot breed them normally."

This confirms past precedents that iconic Legendary Pokémon provided early on during adventures as mounts cannot produce eggs.

Analysis – Which Scarlet & Violet Legendary Is Superior?

Based on their typing, designs, stats distribution, and move pools, which seems the superior Legendary Pokemon in Gen 9?

MiraidonKoraidon
TypeElectric/DragonFighting/Dragon
Attack Stat135160
Sp. Attack Stat135100

Based on stats alone from Serebii, Koraidon edges out Miraidon with much higher physical attack. And its dual Fighting type STAB moves hit harder against norms and steels.

For its sleek design and special attack tilt, Miraidon seems more suited as a special sweeper instead.

So while neither can breed, Koraidon seems the nastier threat in battle. But collectors may still wish to own both!

Other Paradox Pokemon – Also Barren

Alongside Miraidon and Koraidon, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet introduced unusual Paradox Pokémon said to be from other eras. According to Polygon, an industry leading gaming publication:

"Paradox Pokémon are incapable of evolving or breeding"

So for collectors hoping to breed rare variants like Paradox Jigglypuff or Paradox Forms of Legends like Suicune, unfortunately it seems that option is unavailable.

Tandemaus – Unsettling Implications

One new Gen 9 Pokémon capable of breeding – the two-headed mouse Tandemaus – presents some potentially disturbing outcomes according to GamersRD on YouTube:

"If Tandemaus were to breed, would the baby have two heads or one? Would the parents have to double their parenting responsibilities?"

As this content creator highlights, the curiosities around breeding new Pokémon additions have not been fully resolved by Game Freak.

And based on the treatment of Legendaries and Paradox Monster in Violet & Scarlet, Tandemaus reproduction seems unlikely to be shown in detail.

Gimmighoul – Breeding Mystery

Another Pokémon mystery surrounds the ghostly Gimmighoul line added in Gen 9. As EscapeArtist magazine asks:

"Can you breed Gimmighoul? Gimmighoul is also genderless and therefore can‘t breed."

This confirms that even Ghost-types among the new Pokémon species fall under similar catagories as Legendaries and Paradoxes – making breeding impossible.

Exploiting Koraidon & Miraidon – Duplication Glitches

Although unable to breed Legendary mounts normally, some players have uncovered duplication glitches involving Koraidon & Miraidon.

According to gaming hacker website NerdStash:

"Make it hold the item you want to duplicate, ride and dismount it rapidly by pressing +, then check your inventory for copies of items."

Through manipulating rideable Legendaries, unscrupulous gamers duplicate Rare Candy, vitamins, and TMs risking game integrity.

But this glitch confirms the special coding surrounding Miraidon and Koraidon compared to normal Pokémon. And likely relates to why breeding is restricted.

Final Analysis

In summary, like previous Legendary Pokémon provided early in adventures, Miraidon and Koraidon cannot breed as they lack genders entirely.

This seems to hold true also for new Gen 9 additions like Paradox Forms and species such as Gimmighoul. Whether by design or to preserve some mystery around these powerful creatures, producing eggs stays firmly in the realm of normal Pokémon only.

Yet through ongoing analysis of stats, movepools, designs, and version differences, the competitive community still searches for an edge with each Legendary. Even if we cannot breed our own. That competitive spirit to constantly tinker for an advantage against fellow trainers keeps the spirit of Pokémon alive from Red & Blue until Scarlet & Violet today.

So while I cannot recommend strategies around breeding Miraidon or Koraidon, the journey alongside these magnificent companions stays rewarding as we forge our own paths as Champions!
