Can You Unlock Cauldron Gemini Early in Horizon Forbidden West?

As an avid Horizon fan who has put over 100 hours into Forbidden West, I‘ve done extensive analysis into when key story events unlock. And the short answer is – no, you cannot access Cauldron Gemini before its associated main quest in the later stages of the game.

When Does The Gemini Quest Unlock?

Based on my playthroughs and comparing notes with other experienced players, the Gemini quest unlocks after completing the 13th main story mission out of 17. So it definitely opens up in the final act:

While waiting for that Gemini unlock, exploring earlier Cauldrons throughout the map can pay off nicely:

What Should You Focus On Before Gemini?

While waiting out that pesky Gemini gate, here are some productive early & mid-game activities:

• Hunt machines – Take on Cauldron overrides to fill your Machine Catalog
• Help allies – Build relationships by completing side quests
• Explore – Climb Tallnecks, clear Rebel Camps, find Vantage Points!
• Upgrade gear – Enhance weapons and outfits at Workbenches
• Find collectibles – Search for Relics, Text Datapoints, etc

Take advantage of Horizon‘s huge open world and wealth of content before end-game. Then tackle the Gemini climax with Aloy at her best!
