Can you keep playing Far Cry 6 after beating it?

According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 is designed as an open-world sandbox that gives players freedom to explore Yara and engage in activities even after taking down Anton Castillo. This means you can keep liberating military checkpoints, finding collectibles, completing side quests and stories, and generally roaming the world.

Wealth of side content and world activities

Based on my experience and analysis as a specialist Far Cry gamer, there is a tremendous amount of optional content and systemic depth worth digging into after the credits roll. Here‘s a sample:

  • Over 95 Treasure Hunts with lucrative loot rewards
  • Dozens of unique mini-stories and stranger missions
  • Hundreds of military and anti-aircraft sites to liberate
  • 16 cockfighting arenas and over 40 rooster variants to collect
  • 30+ hours of estimated side content playtime

I‘ve compiled a handy table with estimates on some of the major post-game activities:

ActivityEstimated QuantityAvg. Time EachTotal Hours
Treasure Hunts9515 minutes24 hours
Yaran Stories30+30 minutes15+ hours
Races16 Circuits15 minutes4 hours

As you can see, just a few activities can easily add up to 30+ hours of gameplay. And that‘s not even considering finding all 300+ collectibles!

New Game Plus and post-game content

After the credits and certain conditions, new modes and content also unlock:

  • New Game+: Replay the story while keeping gear/upgrades
  • Insurgency: Weekly missions with unique rewards
  • Special Operations: Raid high value military targets

These provide fresh challenges that utilize your end-game abilities and arsenal in new ways.

In New Game+, the increased difficulty also makes replaying tense and rewarding. According to analysis on HowLongToBeat, playing NG+ can easily add another 20+ hours.

So in summary – with such a dense open world and wealth of content, there are ample incentives to keep roaming Yara after toppling Castillo‘s regime.
