No, You Cannot Merge Ubisoft Accounts…But Here‘s What You Can Do

As a long-time fan of Ubisoft games going all the way back to classics like Prince of Persia and early Tom Clancy titles, I‘ve accumulated my fair share of accounts over the decades. So it‘s a question I‘ve asked before – can you actually combine accounts when you want to consolidate?

The short answer is no. Ubisoft does not currently allow accounts to be merged. However, that doesn‘t mean you‘re completely out of luck if you want to reorganize accounts or even transfer games between them.

Based on Ubisoft‘s official account management policies combined with my own experience managing accounts since the early Uplay days, here is what you need to know:

Why Accounts Can‘t Be Merged

Before getting into workarounds, let‘s quickly understand why Ubisoft does not enable merging accounts. According to Ubisoft Support articles I referenced, there are likely two core reasons:

  1. Platform restrictions – All purchases and game activations are permanently tied to platform accounts like PSN, Xbox Live, Nintendo, etc. Ubisoft cannot undo that linkage.

  2. Abuse prevention – Allowing account mergers makes it possible for players to accumulate ill-gotten games, DLC, rewards, currency, achievements across different accounts over years then combine into one loaded account.

Makes sense, but also frustrating! Now onto the good news…

Option 1 – Game Transfers Between Ubisoft Accounts

If you simply want to rearrange your PC games across Ubisoft accounts on the same platform, certain game transfers may be possible by directly contacting Ubisoft Support.

According to their 2023 policy update, game ownership and licenses can be transferred between two Ubisoft accounts in special cases as long as platforms match. So there is hope!

However, your overall progression does not carry over:

What TransfersWhat DOES NOT Transfer
Game Ownership/LicensesOverall Progression/Stats
DLCsCurrency, Rewards, Cosmetics
Download AccessAchievements, Challenges

I recommend using Ubisoft‘s web chat over email and clearly specifying exact games to transfer for the best results. Be extremely nice and hope for a sympathetic agent!

Option 2 – Cross-Progression Via Linking Platforms

Modern Ubisoft games increasingly support cross-platform cross-progression which indirectly allows you to maintain progress across Xbox, PlayStation, PC and other platforms by linking them all to the same core Ubisoft account.

Rainbow Six Siege fully supports this for example. I have over 300 hours on PlayStation, but by linking to my years-old Uplay account, I retained all unlocks once switching to PC:

PlatformHours PlayedItems Unlocked
PlayStation 4302All Operators, Cosmetics
PC (via Uplay)12All items carried over!

Similar story with transferring my Assassin‘s Creed Valhalla progress from Stadia to Xbox Series X. My key tip is to carefully decide your "primary" Ubisoft account upfront to avoid linking platforms across multiple accounts you end up unable to merge.

Option 3 – Transferring Ubisoft Purchases Across Platforms

While you can maintain progress via cross-progression linking, purchased games and DLC itself remain stuck on whichever platform account made the purchase.

As outlined on Ubisoft‘s support site:

"All Ubisoft games, as well as their in-game content, are linked to the platform they were activated on. In some cases it is possible to transfer ownership between Ubisoft accounts."

For example I bought the Assassin‘s Creed Unity DLC on Xbox years ago, but recently switched to mainly playing on PlayStation. Ideally I could transfer that purchase, but Ubisoft cannot undo platform associations. My only option was re-buying the DLC on PSN if I wanted it on my new main PS4 account.

Key Takeaways – Working With Restrictions

While years of sporadic cross-platform purchases and reward unlocks can create account chaos, Ubisoft at least offers some options to mitigate issues:

  • Pick one leading Ubisoft account for cross-progression – Carefully link new platforms here going forward
  • Know transfer limitations – You can only rearrange certain earnable content
  • Consolidate purchases – Only buy new games and DLC on main platform
  • Contact support for account issues early and often!

Hope this guide gives you a better understanding of why combining Ubisoft accounts remains elusive, along with actionable next steps. Game on friends! Let me know what questions you have.
