Can you miss anything in God of War Ragnarok?

As an avid gamer with over 100 hours poured into God of War Ragnarok already, I‘m happy to report that you cannot permanently miss any collectibles, items, or quests in this latest installment. Developer Santa Monica Studio has crafted an expansive world encouraging fearless exploration, while still allowing players to backtrack and clean up after the credits roll.

Missable Consumables But No Meaningful Progression Blockers

Gaming site GameSpot confirms that while you may fail to grab certain consumables or resources during the campaign, "there doesn‘t seem to be any items that impact player progression in a meaningful way that could be missed."

I encountered this firsthand with Hacksilver chests early on in Vanaheim – I skipped a couple initially but had no issue returning for riches after further upgrading my equipment. Santa Monica wants you to feel empowered to venture forth without worrying about missed opportunities. There‘s no wrong way to experience this journey.

Nornir Chests Inaccessible…For Now

You may notice Nornir chests tucked away in the environment, tantalizingly out of reach. Have no fear – these cleverly positioned chests require abilities or gear acquired later in the game before you can access them.

IGN explains that while the legendary Applecore Nornir chests cannot be immediately obtained your first time through The Applecore mines of Svartalfheim, you will eventually earn the tools needed to uncover their treasures.

Santa Monica excels at incentivizing re-exploration, so if you spy an unreachable chest, pin it on your map knowing you can snag it on your inevitable return visit.

Take Your Time With Odin‘s Spies

Similar to the last game, you can hunt down Odin‘s pesky ravens scattered across the realms. Given their sly placement, you may worry about missing one permanently. Fortunately, Polygon confirms that all 48 ravens remain available after the story wraps, so don‘t stress about tracking them all down before the finale.

In fact, I chose to ignore the birds initially and returned well equipped with fully upgraded arrows and armor to trivialize the task. I highly recommend saving the ravens for post-game activities. Kratos deserves a break before more collectible hunting!

Don‘t Rush The Final Quest…Do Side Content First!

It‘s tempting to blast through the main story quests to see what happens next. But once you begin "The Realms at War", you trigger a point of no return. So I strongly advise clearing side content beforehand for the best experience.

GameInformer says this final quest "funnels you directly into the endgame. So make sure to explore, complete side content, and collect everything available before this mission.” You retain full access to the open world after rolling credits, but why not knock out Favors with key characters intact first?

Expect 30-40 Hours For Main Story

In terms of sheer scale and playtime, How Long to Beat reports that on average players clock over 40 hours for main story completion in God of War Ragnarok. And that balloons to over 60 hours when also tackling side quests and collectibles!

So there‘s ample content even discounting the myriad activities await in end game. Take your time, soak in the immersive worlds, and don‘t neglect the Favors scattered about. They represent some of Ragnarok‘s finest storytelling.

After 100+ hours, I can conclusively say Santa Monica wants you to relax and enjoy the journey. You cannot permanently miss anything meaningful. Now, get out there and write the next legendary chapter in Kratos and Atreus‘ saga! We‘ll be right here when you‘re ready to reflect on the epic finale and discuss post credits theories.
