Can you transfer Hisuian Pokémon to Scarlet and Violet?

As a long-time competitive Pokémon fan, I could barely contain my excitement upon hearing we’ll finally be able to transfer Hisuian regional forms into Scarlet and Violet! Ever since using the mystical ancient variants back in Legends: Arceus, I’ve been dreaming up what awesome teams I could build with them in Gen 9.

Well, fellow trainers, start prepping those Hisuian Pokémon because our patience is about to pay off!

Coming in 2024: Enable Hisuian Transfers with Pokémon HOME

I know the big question on everyone’s mind – when exactly will we be able transfer Pokémon from Legends: Arceus over to Scarlet/Violet? Based on official statements from the Pokémon Company, the feature is planned to launch alongside the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, most likely around late Winter or Spring 2023.

This lines up with dataminer leaks indicating Pokémon HOME compatibility was already baked into the Gen 9 games’ code at launch. So while we’ll have some months more of waiting ahead, at least we can take solace knowing the groundwork is laid for Hisuian support sooner rather than later!

When the time comes, the transfer process itself will work just like previous generations. You’ll need to first trade your Hisuian Pokémon from Legends: Arceus into Pokémon HOME storage. After that, you can withdraw them from HOME directly into Scarlet or Violet. Pretty straightforward!

Hisuian Regional Variants Set to Take Over Paldea

Now, what exactly makes these Hisuian regional forms so powerful and popular? In short – alternate typings, ability changes, and revamped movepools transform them into dangerous threats.

Take Hisuian Goodra for example. The potent Dragon-Steel combo patches Goodra’s big weakness to Fairy moves. Meanwhile, Iron Fist provides a boost to the hard hitting punch moves it gains access to. Or consider Hisuian Zoroark and its unique Ghost/Normal typing enabled by Cursed Body, letting it counter both Fighting and Normal opponents.

Across the board stats improvements further cement their viability. Hisuian Braviary receives massive Attack and Speed to make it a formidable wallbreaker. Bulkier Defense and HP allow tanky Hisuian Avalugg to set up and sweep more easily. And the list goes on!

Hisuian Pokémon Set to Dominate the Paldea Meta

Given all these factors, Hisuian regional variants stand to define top tier Paldea play upon their release. Specific Pokémon even have the potential to completely warp the Restricted metagame.

For example, Hisuian Zoroark looks primed to run rampant. As one of the only Ghost types in Scarlet/Violet with access to Nasty Plot boosting, it can unleash wicked strong Shadow Balls. And with Cursed Body to discourage opponents making contact, good luck stopping this blazing fast sweeper once it gets going!

Steel/Dragon-type Hisuian Goodra also promises to make its mark. With body press, it hits like a truck while taking little damage back thanks to insane natural bulk. Sap Sipper further bolsters its staying power against Grass opponents. Who’s ready to have their team dismantled by a beefy silver slug?!

Make no mistake – the era of Hisuian dominance over the Gen 9 meta is nigh. I for one cannot wait to put Paldea trainers to the test with my own handpicked squad of ancient heavyweights once these regional variants finish their long slumber!

Build Your Dream Hisuian Roster

Of course, the fun of Pokémon is choosing favorites to play with – not just chasing the “optimal” picks. So which beloved Hisuian Pokémon might find a treasured spot on your Scarlet or Violet team?

For me, my ace has to be Hisuian Typhlosion. Ever since I laid eyes on its sleek purple fiery mane, I was entranced by this gorgeous Ghost-type evolution. With Hex, Shadow Ball and Searing Shot as staples in its modified movepool, it can unleash potent special attacking barrages. And who could overlook the value of an Explosion last resort from a ghostly volcano badger? Sign me up!

Alternate forms are also a great opportunity to revisit oft-overlooked monsters. Take Hisuian Qwilfish for example. While typically dismissed as mediocre, this Poison/Dark spike ball becomes an absolute menace capable of dishing out pain while absorbing attacks with solid 75/125/85 bulk. Icicle Spear and Liquidation make it a fierce Physical sweeper – time to wreak some havoc!

And why settle for just six when there’s so many unique new variants I want to try out? Hidden Ability Slush Rush on blubbery Hisuian Avalugg turns it into a speedy iceberg, while Sneasler’s Fighting sub-typing helps it overcome pesky Ghosts. There’s almost too many cool combos to pick from now!

No matter what your preferences, with an array of alternate forms spanning different strengths, I have no doubt every trainer can forge an amazing squad identity with these ancient Pokémon. The only hard part will be deciding who to leave on the bench!
