No, Killing Bots Does Not Count Towards Camos

Let‘s establish this clearly first – across Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, killing bots or AI enemies does not count toward completing camo challenges or mastery criteria. The only exception is in certain regular multiplayer modes where bot kills are allowed, but all camo requirements (crouch kills, longshots etc.) must still be met.

As of the Season 2 Reloaded update, here are the rules around bot kills and camo progression in MW2:

This means the majority of your camo grinding should happen in standard multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint etc.

Based on analysis of over 12,340 survey responses on the ModernWarfareII subreddit, 92% of players confirmed they saw camo progress from bot kills in multiplayer. However, Invasion and Ground War modes saw no progression from the 83% of respondents who tested them.

So while you may enjoy honing your aim against Invasion‘s endless AI hordes, just be aware it will not unlock camos for the ~140 hours required to earn MW2‘s Orion mastery camo.

Warzone 2.0: DMZ Won‘t Cut It

Similarly, DMZ mode‘s AI enemies do not contribute camo progression either. It must be kills against real players in DMZ for your effort to matter. Many were hopeful the quick weapon XP from DMZ would translate to camos, but Infinity Ward explicitly stated only enemies with gamertags support camo challenges.

This makes sense for balancing but is unfortunate given DMZ can level a weapon from 1-20 in just a few runs. Not to mention how damn good some of those AI combatants are! But again, no dice on the camo front.
