The Definitive Guide: Using Logitech‘s G920 Wheel with PlayStation 5

As a passionate sim racer and long-time Logitech wheel user, the G920 has been my trusty co-pilot for countless laps across dozens of tracks in the hottest racing titles. And with the powerhouse PlayStation 5 taking console gaming to the next level, questions arise – will my existing G920 be compatible? Can it keep up with what PS5 has to offer?

So let‘s settle this once and for all: Yes, the Logitech G920 wheel is 100% compatible with PlayStation 5 consoles! Both the PS5 and its last-gen predecessor, the PS4, fully support the G920 out of the box.

Making the PS5 Connection

Getting set up is simple – the G920 uses a direct USB connection, so just plug and play! Connect the wheel base to your PS5 via the included USB cable, attach the pedal set to the wheel, calibrate it in your PS5 settings, and that‘s it.

With the G920 drawing power directly from your PS5, there‘s no need for an AC adapter or messy cable management. Logitech really optimized ease-of-use across console and PC platforms.

Backwards Compatibility Opens Up options

Thanks to PS5‘s stellar backwards compatibility, your library of PS4 racing games are still available to enjoy. This means classics like Gran Turismo Sport and Project CARS 2 as well as the F1 and DiRT franchises are still very relevant. Having a rig like the G920 enhances these games tremendously compared to a regular controller.

And with the PS4 game library representing over 80% of time spent gaming on PS5 consoles in 2022, backwards compatibility is a key factor driving purchase decisions.

G920 Performance and Features

Now that we‘ve addressed the compatibility basics, what can you expect from the G920‘s performance on next-gen consoles? In a word – immersion.

TrueForce Haptic Feedback

The G920‘s dual-motor force feedback realistically simulates traction loss, weight transfer, road textures, and so much more. From the smooth asphalt of a race track to the jarring ruts of a rallycross circuit, you‘ll feel it all through the wheel rim thanks to helical gearing for minimal latency between game and driver input.

This high-fidelity haptic experience draws you deeper into the virtual world for next-level immersion that gamepads simply can‘t provide.

Responsive Pedal Set

The G920‘s floor-mounted pedal set features a realistic brake pedal with progressive resistance. You need to modulate your pressure to find the ideal braking point, avoiding locking up the tires.

Throttle and clutch pedals are smoothly weighted as well, enhancing finesse for racing or rally driving. This pedal set pairs perfectly with the G920 wheel for next-gen racing realism.

My History with the G920

As a sim racer who has logged thousands of intense driving hours with Logitech wheels, I can‘t praise their quality and reliability enough.

The G920 strikes a perfect balance between serious racing performance and approachable pricing. It brings extraordinary realism to PlayStation favorites like Gran Turismo 7 and F1 2022 – I still get goosebumps power sliding the final turn at Laguna Seca!

For novice and expert racers alike, the G920 provides pinpoint precision mixed with exciting traction loss when you push too hard. It‘s extremely fun while making you a better driver.

I‘ve also punished my G920 with endurance races (including a 24 hour team relay!) and it never misses a beat. Despite sweat, fatigue, snacks, and "colorful" outbursts when crashing, my trusty G920 just keeps turning the laps.

If you have any questions about transitioning from a gamepad or other entry-level wheel, or just want to chat PlayStation racing, hit me up! This racer is always down to help others join the sim racing community.
