Does the MW2 Vault Edition Unlock All Guns?

The short answer is yes – the Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition does technically unlock all guns, but only for the M4 weapon platform.

By purchasing the $99.99 Vault Edition, players gain instant access to the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault blueprint which unlocks every weapon and attachment for the M4 platform.

So while not every single gun in MW2 is unlocked, you instantly get three top-tier primary weapons – the M4 assault rifle, M16 assault rifle, and ISO submachine gun – kitted out with all attachments and camo options the second you boot up the game.

As an avid Call of Duty fanatic and content creator myself, I‘d consider that a win in terms of saving tons of grind time and getting an immediate leg up on the competition with best-in-class firepower.

A Breakdown of the MW2 Vault Edition Bundle

Before getting into more detail on the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault itself, let‘s briefly overview everything you get in the premium Vault Edition package:

  • Base Game
  • Early Campaign & Open Beta Access
  • Cross-Gen Bundle
  • Red Team 141 Operator Pack – Ghost, Soap, Price, Farah operators
  • FJX Cinder Weapon Vault
  • 1 Season Battle Pass
  • 50 Tier Skips

Considering the Standard Edition is only $69.99, you‘re paying a $30 premium for the additional digital goodies bundled with the Vault Edition.

In my opinion, that $30 is well worth it if you plan on no-lifing MW2 when it drops on October 28th. The weapon vault, battle pass, tier skips, and sweet operator skins provide the perfect starter pack for hitting the ground running on day one.

Unpacking the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault

Now, for the main event – what exactly does the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault blueprint unlock in MW2, and is it actually worth it?

First, let‘s quickly explain how the new weapon platform system works in Modern Warfare 2:

  • There are 51 total weapons at launch
  • 28 are earned normally by increasing your overall player rank
  • The rest are unlocked through weapon platforms
  • Platforms contain 3-4 themed weapons that share progression

For example, leveling up the M4 assault rifle will also increase your progress for the M16 assault rifle and ISO submachine gun since they are part of the same platform.

So by grabbing that M4 blueprint you instantly unlock the M16 and ISO as well.

Here‘s a quick peek at everything included in the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault:

Weapons

  • M4 Assault Rifle
  • M16 Assault Rifle
  • ISO Submachine Gun

Attachments

  • All attachment unlocks for the weapons above

Camos

  • All camo unlocks for the weapons above

Plus you get the sweet FJX Cinder cosmetic variant applied to all weapons and attachments in the vault with a slick reddish-orange color scheme.

Considering the M4 platform contains top-tier meta primary weapons for multiple playstyles, unlocking the whole thing right off the bat is an insane head start.

Just How Big of A Head Start Does the Weapon Vault Provide?

To understand just how valuable instantly unlocking an entire weapon platform is, let‘s compare the default grind to get the M4 platform weapons vs having the weapon vault:

Unlock RequirementNormal GrindWith Weapon Vault
M4 Assault RifleLevel 16Instant
M16 Assault RifleLevel 20Instant
ISO Submachine GunLevel 43Instant
All AttachmentsHours of grindInstant
All Camo OptionsHours of grindInstant

As you can see, you‘d need to reach level 43 in normal progression to unlock everything the FJX Cinder vault gives you immediately for spending $30 extra on the Vault Edition.

That‘s a HUGE xp & time saver when competing against others still working on leveling their guns and getting good builds.

Plus, you still have the base M4 which levels up and unlocks camos normally as you get kills after unlocking it from the blueprint.

It‘s the best of both worlds – instant power AND long-term progression.

Let me tell you from experience grinding camo challenges and weapon levels can burn you out fast. I‘m thrilled I can bypass a big chunk of that slog with the FJX Cinder vault if I spring for the Vault Edition.

Well worth $30 not to deal with an extremely repetitive first few prestige levels if you ask me. Maybe I‘m crazy…but I don‘t think so!

Is the MW2 Vault Edition Ultimately Worth Buying?

For hardcore fans planning to play Modern Warfare 2 extensively, especially competitive multiplayer, the Vault Edition is an easy buy in my book.

Sure, $100 is a lot to pay upfront for a video game. But you get seriously good value across the board with all the Vault Edition extras:

  • Early beta & campaign access
  • Awesome Red Team 141 operator skins
  • The M4 weapon vault providing a MASSIVE head start
  • 1 season battle pass + 50 tier skips (save ~$20+)

If buying the Standard Edition, you‘d likely want to grab the battle pass anyway which brings the total cost to around $100 regardless when including tier skips.

Except with the Vault Edition it‘s all bundled together with badass blueprints and bonuses on day one. For me, that convenience and instant power is well worth paying up.

But more casual players who don‘t care as much about cosmetics or progressing quickly can safely grab the Standard Edition and still have a blast with Modern Warfare 2.

So in summary:
