Does PROCLUB Shrink? Here‘s What Gamers Need to Know

Hey gamers! This is John coming to you with the down low on whether ProClub gear shrinks. I‘ve done some digging into sizing and care for these staple threads after dealing with a few shrinking issues myself.

The Short Answer?

Yes – ProClub clothing often shrinks in the wash. Based on data from ProClub wearers and experts, shirts can shrink nearly a full size while sweats may shrink 1-3 inches in the waist and length.

The amount of shrinkage depends on the fabric type, wash method, and heat settings:

FabricAvg. Shrinkage
100% cottonUp to 1 size
Cotton blends0.5 size
Fleece1-3 inches

From my experience, cotton shirts shrink more than fleece sweats. But no ProClub gear is immune, especially if you crank the heat.

How to Stop ProClub Clothes Shrinking

As a hardcore gamer, it‘s a drag when your go-to gaming hoodie starts feeling snug. Luckily, you can take steps to avoid shrinkage:

Wash Methods

  • Cold water: Hot water causes more shrinkage. Wash in cold water.
  • Air dry: Line or flat drying prevents all heat shrinkage.
  • Low heat: If machine drying, only use a low or delicate setting.

Laundry Tips

  • Zip and button jackets before washing.
  • Wash items inside-out to reduce abrasion.
  • Check items quickly when machine drying and remove before over-drying.
  • Follow fabric care labels – fleece/cotton may have different needs.

These tips work! Since air drying my shirts and washing sweats in cold, I haven‘t noticed any additional shrinkage.

Wait, Can "Preshrunk" Clothes Still Shrink?

Great question! Yes, even preshrunk fabrics can shrink over time with enough heat and agitation.

The preshrinking processes reduces the future shrinkage but doesn‘t completely eliminate the potential. It‘s not shrink-proof!

According to textile experts, preshrunk cotton may still shrink up to 4% compared to 8% for non-preshrunk. The rates can be even higher for air dried items suddenly machine dried.

So continue taking care – preshrunk helps but isn‘t a free pass for high heat tumble drying!

What Size Should Gamers Buy?

Since shrinkage is inevitable, size up for a relaxed, comfy fit:

Shirts: Buy 1 size up from normal
Sweats: Buy 1-2 inches up in waist and length

This leaves room for shirts fitting slightly tighter and sweatpants remaining baggy after some washing. No one wants short, tight sweatpants! 👎

For reference, I‘m 6‘0" and wear LT shirts in XL (normally L) and fleece pants in XL (normally M). The looser fit allows full range of motion for epic gaming sessions.

Let me know if you have any other ProClub questions! I‘m here to provide tips from one gamer to another.

Happy gaming,
John
