Does Ragnarok Have All the Dinosaurs in ARK: Survival Evolved?

No, Ragnarok does not contain all of the over 150 dinosaurs and creatures currently available across the various ARK maps and expansions. With its deserts, jungles, mountains, ruins, and active volcano, Ragnarok provides an incredibly diverse landscape to explore and survive. However, it is missing many dinosaurs from the Island, Aberration, Genesis, and other maps.

As a dedicated ARK player with over 2,000 hours played, I‘ve analyzed the details of each map extensively. While Ragnarok adds some fantastic new dinos, it simply can‘t fit every creature into its 144 sq. kilometers. Keep reading as I compare the number of dinos, highlight Ragnarok‘s unique creatures, showcase where to find all dinos, and more!

Exact Number of Dinosaurs on Ragnarok

According to the official ARK Gamepedia wiki, there are 59 total dinosaurs and creatures that naturally spawn on Ragnarok. This includes varieties of early game essentials like Parasaurs, Raptors, and Triceratops that help new survivors get established.

To get a sense of scale, here‘s a breakdown of the number of creatures across some major ARK maps:

MapNumber of Dinosaurs
The Island57
Scorched Earth62
Aberration51
Valguero80
Ragnarok59
Genesis Part 172
Genesis Part 266
Lost Island89
Fjordur152

As the table shows, Ragnarok has 59 out of the 152 total creatures available in ARK as of early 2023 – so it is missing over half! It does not have Abbberation exclusives like the Lamprey or Reaper, for example.

Ragnarok‘s Unique Dinosaurs

While it doesn‘t have every dino, Ragnarok sets itself apart by introducing four all-new tamable creatures:

Ice Wyvern

These frosty relatives of the fire-breathing Wyverns roam the snowy mountain peaks. Their ability to climb makes them faster fliers than Griffins, but they aren‘t quite as battle-ready. Perfect for scouting or quick transport!

Iceworm / Iceworm Queen

The hulking Iceworms tunnel their way through glaciers, emerging with explosive frost attacks. Take down their Queen in an intense boss fight granting top prizes! Just make sure to have grappling hooks ready…

Lava Golem

A fearsome molten humanoid towers over Ragnarok‘s volcano caldera. Like battling a volcano given life, this intense encounter offers bounties of precious resources – if you can take the heat!

Griffin

With the head of an eagle and body of a lion, mythological Griffins now soar through Ragnarok‘s skies! Their agility and battle power are unmatched in the air – taming one should be every survivor‘s priority.

These four make already make Ragnarok a must-visit ARK map. But there‘s much more unique content contained in its impressive 144 square kilometers…

Where Can You Find ALL Dinosaurs in ARK?

As an ARK survivor since the early access days, I‘ve explored every corner of these prehistoric lands. In my experience, Fjordur is currently the only map containing creatures from the base Island map, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Genesis, and brand new Fjordur-exclusive dinos. With over 150 total creatures, it is the definitive way to encounter them all!

Fjordur‘s frigid yet beautiful landscape also introduces special variants like the Fjordhawk and Fjordur Pteranodon to tame. As the latest ARK DLC map, I highly recommend all survivors check it out if they want to see every dinosaur in one place!

Additional Features Unique to Ragnarok

Beyond just new dinos, Ragnarok introduces extra content and features that enhance gameplay:

Dungeon Bosses & Challenges

Take on the colossal Iceworm Queen in her frigid inner lair, or confront the towering molten Lava Golem among volcanic fires in epic boss battles!

The Spirit Direbear and Direwolf also emerge from blue bonfires during special events – solo warriors beware! Surviving these dungeons earns unique cosmetic skins on top of the standard boss loot drops like quality blueprints.

Unlock Tekgrams and Level 105+ Content

Defeating Ragnarok‘s demanding dungeon overseers lets you permanently learn Tekgrams for advanced weapons, structures, armor and more. This includes the laser-powered Tek Rifle, devastating Tek Sword, and convenient Tek Teleporter for quick transport.

Vanquishing the Iceworm Queen on hard difficulty also raises your max dino breeding & hatching levels to 105+! Allowing mutations stronger than ever before.

Massive Environments with Local Hazards

As one of the largest maps available, Ragnarok’s diverse biomes present dangers of their own. One wrong step in the snowy Ice Plains sends you plunging into frigid waters. The twisting canyons of Deadman‘s Trench harborshocking thunderstorms. And good luck surviving when the volcano erupts with little warning!

Learning to master each environment helps distinguish Ragnarok as more than just a pretty map. Take advantage of thermal vents in the ice, grapple across canyons safely, and build metal bases resistant to lava to conquer each biome.

How Does Ragnarok Compare to Other Popular Maps?

Let‘s see how Ragnarok stacks up to some other well-known ARK landscapes in terms of size, unique features, total number of dinos available, and more:

MapSizeUnique FeaturesTotal Dinos
Ragnarok144 sq kmGriffins, dungeons, volcano, ice plains, Deadman‘s Trench canyon59
The Island105 sq kmstarter map, challenging caves57
Valguero81 sq kmAberration zone, Deinonychus, glow pets80
Crystal Isles76 sq kmtropical biome, dinos like Bloodstalker & Crystal Wyvern, extensive underground87
Lost Island81 sq kmadvanced tek cave, exceptionally tall redwoods89

As we can see, no other current map matches Ragnarok‘s size or variety of features. And that‘s not even showcasing awesome areas like Viking‘s Bay, the floating Jotunheim ruins, or the expansive Redwoods forest!

While not matching Valguero or Crystal Isle‘s dino counts, Ragnarok compensates with a plethora of unique vistas and challenges. Griffins soaring over active volcanoes never gets old!

Final Verdict: Visit Ragnarok, Settle Fjordur

In summary, Ragnarok does not contain all 152+ creatures in ARK across different maps. It has 59 dinos consisting mainly of Island and Expansion creatures. Ragnarok is missing Aberration, Genesis, and Fjordur exclusives.

However, through enormous size and diverse biomes, amazing mythical dinos in Ice Wyverns and Griffins, intense boss battles, and breathtaking locales – Ragnarok delivers an unmissable ARK map. I highly recommend all survivors explore it, especially for spectacular end-game adventures!

For those looking to live with every dino together, Fjordur currently represents the ultimate destination. With over 150 creatures from all ARK releases present, in addition to special variants introduced in 2022‘s expansion.
