How to Unlock Kratos in Mortal Kombat 11

As an avid Mortal Kombat and God of War fan, one of the most common questions I‘ve seen asked is – how do you unlock Kratos in Mortal Kombat 11?

Many fans eagerly remember 2011‘s Mortal Kombat 9 featuring a fully playable Kratos from the hit PlayStation franchise God of War. Kratos brought his savage rage and signature chained Blades of Chaos to brutalize MK mainstays like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden.

The Hard Truth: Kratos Isn‘t on the MK11 Roster

Unfortunately, I have to clearly state that Kratos is 100% NOT available as a fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. As much as fans are clamoring for his return, NetherRealm Studios has not included or announced any plans to add him to MK11 so far.

He was previously featured as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 9, but has not returned for the latest sequel MK11 in any capacity. Trust me, as a diehard MK fan I wish this wasn‘t the case! But sadly, there are currently zero ways to unlock or play as Kratos in Mortal Kombat 11.

Why Fans Want Kratos Back in Mortal Kombat

Ever since his epic debut back in MK9, fans have been eager to see Kratos bring his ruthless combat style back to the MK arena. Gameplay wise, Kratos was a perfect fit – wielding his iconic chained swords called the Blades of Chaos that allowed him to savagely rip opponents apart with satisfying brutality.

The God of War protagonist also matched the darker, more mature tone of Mortal Kombat‘s world and characters. His fatalities like pulling a victim‘s brain out their nostrils or skewering them on a spiked bed gave MK‘s trademark finishers a run for their money!

Kratos remains one of gaming‘s most recognizable anti-heroes, with the God of War franchise winning multiple Game of the Year awards in recent years. His triumphant return could attract more players and sales for NetherRealm Studios.

As the above table shows when comparing some stats, Kratos exceeds most MK characters in brute strength, weaponry, and special powers. His insane feats like battling titans and gods could enable him to wipe the arena floor with Earthrealm‘s chosen warriors!

Will Kratos Appear as MK11 DLC?

So far, NetherRealm Studios has given no official word on Kratos potentially appearing as a DLC fighter for MK11 down the road. Ed Boon, creative director and Mortal Kombat co-creator, is known for keeping secrets and teasing fans about upcoming content.

Still, given the continued fan demand and his huge success as DLC in MK9, I would rate Kratos‘ chances of returning later in MK11 as high. He would undoubtedly be a top seller character; potentially rivaling earlier DLC additions like The Joker, Terminator T-800, and Spawn.

I could absolutely picture NetherRealm releasing Kratos as a surprise reveal before finishing MK11 content updates. Just imagine if they included his iconic Leviathan Axe from God of War (2018) as a new weapon style!

What Would Kratos‘ Gameplay Be Like?

If added to MK11, Kratos‘ gameplay style would likely be similar to MK9 – a slower, hard hitting fighter who uses the Blades of Chaos for combo juggle attacks. I‘d love to see some of his best combo finishers return like Head of Helios and Icarus Ascension.

For brand new elements, the developers could incorporate his Leviathan Axe for throw/recall special moves, along with Atreus firing arrow assists. We might even get Kratos equipping the BOY with different arrow types for status effects!

Fatality-wise, the gruesome possibilities are endless – from mounting victims on spiked walls to unleashing the fiery Rage of the Titans! If included, I truly think an MK11-updated Kratos would rival top tier fan favorites like Scorpion or Raiden.

The God of War protagonist has the ideal blend of nostalgic legacy appeal and modern gaming relevance to attract veteran kombatants plus newcomers. His epic return could reinvigorate Mortal Kombat 11‘s lifespan late into its content roadmap.

In closing, I hope NetherRealm Studios surprises us by bringing back Kratos to unleash his rage once more against Shao Kahn‘s Outworld forces. But if for some reason that doesn‘t happen, his mighty legacy in MK9 will never be forgotten!
