The Complete Guide to Unlocking All 84 Minigames in Mario Party Superstars

As a long-time Mario Party fan, I was thrilled to jump into the nostalgic minigame action of Superstars. This Nintendo Switch title assembles a stellar collection of 100 classic minigames from the Nintendo 64 era – serving up a true blast from Mario Party‘s past!

But Superstars doesn‘t give you all 100 minigames right away. Instead, you‘ll need to unlock them by playing through the game‘s various modes:

ModeStarting MinigamesMinigames to Unlock
Mario Party1624
Partner Party515
Sound Stage1010
River Survival416

So in total, there are 35 minigames available at the start, with 84 more to unlock – bringing us to the full count of 119 minigames when including bonus minigames.

Based on my experience fully unlocking them all, here is exactly how to unlock every last minigame in Superstars!

Unlocking Minigames in Mario Party Mode

The classic Mario Party board game mode starts you off with 16 fan-favorite minigames across the 5 iconic boards from Mario Party through Mario Party 3.

To unlock the remaining 24 Mario Party minigames, you simply need to complete entire playthroughs of the boards. The more boards and full matches you finish, the more minigames you‘ll permanently add to your roster.

I‘d estimate it took my group about 8-10 complete Mario Party playthroughs to finally unlock all 24 extra minigames. So be prepared for the long haul – but that‘s part of the classic Mario Party magic!

Unlocking Minigames in Partner Party

Partner Party mode has you explore each board freely with a teammate, working together in 2 vs 2 minigames against other pairs of characters.

Rather than turns, your team has a stock of dice blocks to roll each time you land on a space. This continues until all blocks are used up or a team collects the most coins.

Partner Party starts with only 5 minigames in rotation – so there are 15 more partner minigames waiting to be unlocked!

I found these could be unlocked relatively quicker than Mario Party mode, likely requiring only 4-5 full Partner Party playthroughs. So grab a friend, pick a partner character, and get rolling away!

Unlocking Remix Minigames in Sound Stage

One of my personal favorite modes in Superstars is Sound Stage – this presents 10 themed stage remixes of various minigames, each with a musical twist.

The default Sound Stage rotation provides 10 minigames to start – one corresponding to the theme of each remix stage.

By selecting and completing different stages multiple times, you can unlock the other 10 remixed minigames included in this mode. I‘d estimate it took me around 6-8 full stage plays to unlock them all.

This mode is a real treat for the eyes and ears. Be sure to crank up the volume as you take on these pumping remix challenges!

Surviving to Unlock All River Survival Minigames

Last but not least, River Survival mode gathers a crew of characters to paddle down a long winding river – playing minigames at checkpoints to help keep your raft afloat.

With only 4 starting minigames, this mode hides 16 River Survival exclusives to work towards unlocking.

The key to reveal them all is to complete successive sections of the river, rather than resetting from checkpoints every time. After around 4-5 full river runs, I had opened up all 16 minigames contained in this imaginative mode.

Tracking Progress in the Minigame Gallery

As you play through Superstars unlocking this abundance of minigames, it can be tricky to track exactly how many you have left.

Fortunately, the game gives you a great tool for this with the Minigame Gallery exhibit on the right side of the plaza.

This gallery clearly marks every minigame you currently have access to, while graying out ones that are still locked. It also separated them visually by mode, so you can pinpoint gaps.

Checking in here periodically lets you see solid progress towards your goal of unlocking all 84 extra minigames beyond the starting 35.

Once I finally filled every spot in the gallery, it felt like a true accomplishment celebrating Mario Party‘s rich 30+ year history.

Unlocking the Final Challenge Road

Completing the Minigame Gallery has one more reward beyond basking in ultimate bragging rights.

It also unlocks the final Challenge Road mode – this creates unique gauntlets testing your skills across themed minigame remixes.

While there are no more new minigames left to discover, conquering Challenge Road feels like the ultimate capstone for dedicated Mario Party veterans.

I‘m still working to overcome some of the tougher bowling and puzzle challenges in this mode – offering exciting replay value even after the credits have rolled!

So triumphantly turn that Minigame Gallery gold, then test your minigame prowess to the max in Challenge Road!

Let me know if this guide helps you unlock all content in Mario Party Superstars! And as always, remember to party hard!
