How High to Level Dexterity in Elden Ring
For most builds, level dexterity to 40-60 for optimal scaling and damage output. Pure dexterity builds can go up to 80 dexterity for maximal damage.
What Does Dexterity Do?
Dexterity is key for increasing damage and critical hits with dex-scaling weapons. Additionally:
- Allows wielding advanced dexterity weapons
- Faster casting speeds for spells
- Increased resistance to falling damage
- Better defence when wearing lighter armors
Based on my experience as a passionate Elden Ring player, Dexterity is one of the most versatile stats in the game.
Dexterity Soft & Hard Caps
Dexterity Level | Effect |
---|---|
40 | Soft cap, scaling drops off slowly |
50-60 | Hard cap, scaling decreases steeply |
80 | Max useful level for serious min-maxing |
As the table shows, there are diminishing returns past 50 dex. But high-level PvP builds still benefit from going to 80.
Balanced vs Specialized Dexterity
Balanced Quality Builds: Aim for 40 Strength and 40 Dexterity. This allows solid scaling across a variety of weapons.
Pure Dexterity Builds: Sacrifice strength for 60-80 dexterity. Optimizes katanas, daggers and more. High risk, high reward playstyle.
My recommendation is to adjust based on your weapon preferences. Quality builds offer flexibility, while pure Dex is glass cannon damage.
Best Dexterity Weapons
Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
Uchigatana | S-tier katana, scales to A at +25 |
Hand of Malenia | Highest dex scaling, insane bleed buildup |
Nagakiba | Long range katana, great for PvP |
Guardian‘s Swordspear | Halberd with B dex scaling and sweet weapon skill |
There are many other great dex weapons, but these are some of my favorites.
In closing, level dexterity up to 40-60 for most builds, with the option of 80 for glass cannon damage specialists. Let me know if you have any other questions!
