How Long Does it Take to 100% Complete The Witcher 3 and All DLCs?

As an avid fan who has logged 500+ hours across multiple playthroughs, I estimate it takes between 130-150 hours to fully complete The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with its acclaimed DLC expansions – Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine.

That may seem like a huge time investment, but this sweeping open-world fantasy epic delivers an unparalleled adventure spanning over 100 hours in the base game alone. The expansions add another 30-50 hours of captivating content.

Breaking Down the Hours

Let‘s examine how long it takes to complete each part of this mammoth single-player experience:

Game SectionMain StoryCompletionist
The Witcher 350 hours90-100 hours
Hearts of Stone DLC10 hours15-18 hours
Blood and Wine DLC20 hours30-40 hours
Total80 hours135-158 hours

As you can see, just rushing through the critical path takes about 80 hours. But completing all side quests, witcher contracts, treasure hunts and uncovering every question mark on the map adds a considerable amount of time.

Difficulty Considerations

These estimates are based on playing on the default "Story and Sword" difficulty. Choosing a harder setting like Death March will lengthen combat encounters and likely push the totals closer to 200 hours for a 100% run.

Newcomers to the series should start on an easier setting to focus more on exploration and questing than challenging fights.

Is 100% Completion Worth It?

For fans of immersive, choice-driven RPGs, The Witcher 3 is gaming perfection – the pinnacle of the genre thus far. Both expansions maintain the phenomenal quality.

The writing, world-building, lore and unforgettable characters make the long journey to 100% completion incredibly rewarding. Not only do your choices have impact, but the satisfying monster hunting gameplay never gets old.

I cannot recommend Geralt of Rivia‘s final (?) adventure enough. While certainly time consuming for completionists like myself, once you get lost in the war-torn Northern Realms, you may not want to leave!

Over to you, fellow gamers and monster slayers – let me know what questions you have about completing this fantasy masterpiece!
