How Many Hours is FFXIV in Total?

If you‘re just looking to complete the main story quests in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, you‘re looking at around 120 hours of playtime. This doesn‘t include any of the expansions.

Breaking Down FFXIV Playtime By Expansion

Here‘s a breakdown of estimated playtime by expansion:

  • A Realm Reborn (base game): 120 hours
  • Heavensward: 70-80 hours
  • Stormblood: 60-70 hours
  • Shadowbringers: 60-70 hours
  • Endwalker: 50-60 hours

So if you were to play through all of the story content currently available in FFXIV, you‘re looking at 360-400 hours of playtime.

And that‘s just the main scenario quests! That doesn‘t factor in side quests, grinding, raiding, crafting/gathering, player housing decoration, glamour collecting, etc. People have spent over 1000+ hours doing optional content.

Why FFXIV Takes So Long To Finish

There are a few key reasons why completing all of FFXIV takes so much time:

  • Hundreds of hours of story-driven questing
  • Tons of optional side content and grinds
  • A steady stream of new expansions adding 50+ hours every 2 years
  • An emphasis on immersive worldbuilding and character development

The focus is heavily on the journey over efficiency or rushing to end-game. This creates an incredibly deep and rich RPG experience for those with the time to dive in.

I hope this gives you an idea of the sheer scope and scale of everything there is to see and do in FFXIV! Let me know if you have any other questions.
