How Many Paragons Can You Have in BTD6? No Limits Outside Boss Events

As an experienced BTD6 player and Paragon expert, I get asked this question a lot from new and returning players. So let‘s break it down:

You can have four active Paragons per save at one time in the Boss Bloon Events and Contested Territory modes. This limit was likely added to balance these tough game modes.

However, all other BTD6 game modes currently have no limits on how many Paragons you can place down. This means you can create entire armies of these powerful tier 5 monkey fusion towers if you have the monkey money and patience!

Understanding Paragons – BTD6‘s New Meta-Towers

For those unfamiliar with Paragons, they were added a couple years ago in the Version 28 update. Paragons allow you to combine 3 tier 5 upgrades from a monkey type into one incredibly powerful tower, the pinnacle of that monkey‘s skills and technology!

To create them though, you need to meet hefty degree requirements:

DegreeTotal Monkey XP Needed
307000
5075,000
60250,000
65750,000
711,500,000
763,000,000

As you can see above, maxing out a Paragon‘s degree requires a massive 3 million monkey XP for that type. While daunting, it means pulling off the many synergies and powerful activated abilities a degree 76 Paragon gains access to.

Of course, you can supplement degree levels further with Paragon Totems earned through races and events. About 45 totems in addition to the XP requirements can bring a Paragon all the way to the maximum Degree 100!

Four Active Paragon Limit In Boss Events

Now back to that four Paragon limit…

Why add restrictions only on the Boss and Contested Territory events? My belief is that the devs wanted to prevent players from trivializing the modes‘ intense boss bloons. Boss events in particular are on a timer, so filling the map with tons of degree 76+ Paragons could allow beating them too quickly.

However, this means in all the game‘s other primary modes like Alternate Bloon Rounds and Standard, you can deploy as many tricked out Paragons as your heart desires!

Just be warned – getting four degree 76+ Paragons in one game is still an INSANE grind. I estimate around $300 worth of Insta-monkeys may be needed to shortcut the XP requirements. Or many months of active playtime focused only on a couple monkey types.

But hey, no one ever said creating the Paragon monkey army was easy!

The Four Strongest Paragons in BTD6

Now onto the most exciting part – ranking the current Paragons by strength and overall viability for the toughest modes:

RankParagonBase Tower
1Apex Plasma MasterDart Monkey
2Glaive DominusBoomerang Thrower
3Navarch of the SeasBuccaneer
4Ascended ShadowNinja Monkey

Let‘s analyze why I consider these four the strongest Paragons:

1. Apex Plasma Master (Dart Monkey)

  • Insane single target MOAB damage from Plasma Monkey Fan Club
  • Map-wide range from Crossbow Master
  • Great group popping from Ultra-Juggernaut
  • Versatile on nearly all map types
  • Activated abilities shred B.A.D.s

No surprise here, the plasma-wielding fusion of the Dart Monkey‘s three tier 5 upgrades emerges as the top Paragon. It simply has the complete package – massive damage potential, great uptime with abilities, and fantastic range.

The Apex Plasma Master dominates as #1 Paragon for Boss Events and late game Freeplay rounds. No matter the map type, it crushes MOAB-class bloons better than any other tower. Just be sure to maximize map coverage to get full value from its global range!

2. Glaive Dominus (Boomerang Monkey)

  • Destroys tightly packed bloon rushes
  • Glaive Lord ricochet blows up groups
  • MOAB Domination stuns threats
  • Turbo Charge shares attack speed buffs
  • Excellent on straight line maps

Here we have the best option for handling dense hordes of bloons – the Glaive Dominus! Its rotating glaives bounce between bloons like a pinball machine, shredding even the toughest ceramic rushes.

Thanks to the Turbo Charge base upgrade, the Dominus‘ activated ability also shares a juicy +100% attack speed buff to many nearby towers. This combos exceptionally well with other Paragons or high damage towers like the MAD or BEZ.

While its single target DPS can‘t match the Plasma Master, the Dominus wins out on straight-line maps by bouncing glaives the entire track length. No bloon is safe from this spinning menace!

3. Navarch of the Seas (Buccaneer)

  • Naval Destroyer + Carrier Flagship = Entire fleet
  • Broadside barrage destroys MOABs
  • Water maps = Nearly full coverage
  • Hooks pull in stray bloons
  • Potent buffs and debuff abilities

Who rules the high seas? The Navarch of the Seas, of course! This boisterous fusion of all Buccaneer tier 5s calls in a small armada of backup ships armed to the teeth. The Navarch itself peppers the field with a never-ending stream of cannon fire.

Its activated abilities can selectively boost damage or attack speed of itself and other nearby water towers. Alternately, it slows MOAB-classes with harpoon strikes and tugs stray bloons directly into its firing line.

Thanks to automatically placed Carrier Flagship abilities, the Navarch dominates any map with significant water real estate.MOABs don‘t stand a chance against the fusillade from its fleet! The only downsides are a lack of camo detection and less impressive range/damage compared to the Dart and Boomerang Paragons.

4. Ascended Shadow (Ninja Monkey)

  • Massive single target damage from Master Bomber
  • Devastating ability nukes groups via Grand Saboteur
  • Global range and fast throwing speed
  • Decent grouping and camo detection
  • Excellent early through late game

Here we have perhaps the most well-balanced Paragon – the Ascended Shadow. It merges the best parts of the Ninja Monkey top paths into a potent MOAB assassin with fantastic utility.

While it can‘t match the overall destructive power stacking of the Apex Plasma Master, the Ascended Shadow brings camo detection, anti-bloon abilities, and steady single target damage in one complete package. Its ranged shurikens thin out swarms quickly while abilities like the Sabotage Supply Lines cripple giant MOAB rushes.

The Ninja Paragon performs well on nearly all map types, especially those with mixed bloon paths. It makes an ideal starting tower to carry you into mid and late rounds. While not the flashiest, every BTD6 player should strive to unlock the invaluable Ascended Shadow.

The Grind to Degree 100 Paragons

Think reaching the standard degree 76 is enough? Not even close! The REAL flex for BTD masters is creating a Degree 100 Paragon. This requires getting a Light Paragon Totem and maxing out all three tier 5 upgrades for a tower, then sacrificing them with dozens of additional totems.

Here‘s a quick look at the total monkey money and/or trophy store totem costs:

Paragon TypeTotal Monkey Money CostTotal Trophy Store Totems
Dart Monkey$164,65043
Boomerang Thrower$83,85044
Buccaneer$120,50045
Ninja Monkey$85,65043

As expected, it will tap out most player‘s monkey money reserves to grind out a single degree 100 Paragon, not to even mention reaching level 20 Hero Geraldo to enable it. That‘s over $160k required for just the Dart Monkey one!

However, for the dedicated players who DO put in the long hours to grind a degree 100 beast…oh man. We‘re talking over 100,000 damage per second to MOABs when fully buffed. That‘s enough to shred even the notorious Elite version of the Bloonarius Prime in seconds!

While I don‘t recommend new players worry about this long-term goal, it‘s the ultimate end-game pursuit for us BTD6 addicts. Let me tell you, that Perfect Paragon achievement pop for finally maxing one of these bad boys felt incredible!

The Future of Paragons

We still don‘t have Paragons yet for popular towers like Super Monkey, Wizard, Spactory, or Druid. So as a long-time BTD fanatic, let‘s speculate on what insanely powerful meta-towers could come next!

The Super Monkey Paragon is likely the most anticipated and could arrive this year. My belief is it would blend the Robo Monkey, Tech Terror, and Anti-Bloon upgrades. We‘re probably looking at a BEZ-level beam attack mixed with a powerul re-sell and re-deploy ability. Just imagine setting this beast to "Strong" priority – we‘re talking instant death to even Fortified ZOMGs!

An Inferno Ring Paragon for Wizard could also be incredible, combining massive popping power, map-wide Meteor meteors, and the Prince of Darkness undead army. I‘d love to see fireballs raining down while lightning-fast Firebird Phoenixes sweep around the track!

And who knows, maybe we eventually get the True Monkeyopolis Paragon – a reality warping cosmic singularity that passively generates limitless money and lives from alternate Bloons dimensions! Hey, a monkey can dream right?

Tips for Using Paragons Effectively

Let‘s wrap up with some quick pro tips for wielding Paragons as part of your toolbox:

  • Paragons scale exceptionally well with buffs like Homeland, Overclock, Poplust army, etc. Stack them!
  • Mix Paragons like Apex Plasma with Dominus on key DPS pillars
  • Pay attention to any terrain restrictions or range issues
  • Navarch excels on water, Dominus on straight lines
  • Use Paragons to cover weaknesses like camo or lead popping
  • Ability timings are crucial vs tough rounds – learn them!
  • Max degree = max power. Min-max those XP contributions!

Thanks for reading my deep dive on everything Paragon limit related for BTD6! Let me know down in the comments your thoughts on the current Paragons and which you want to see added next! I‘m crossing my fingers for that Super Monkey…

And as always, keep popping those bloons!
