How many teams are in NCAA 14?

As a passionate college football and gaming fan, one of my all-time favorite video game series is the NCAA Football franchise by EA Sports. The last release in the series, NCAA Football 14, features a total of 126 playable teams. For those wondering – that‘s every single team that was part of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) back in 2013 when the game originally launched.

Let‘s break those 126 teams down a bit further:

  • 120 fully licensed FBS programs – This encompasses teams from all 11 FBS conferences at the time, plus Independent teams like Notre Dame.
  • 6 generic placeholder teams – Likely used due to licensing restrictions for Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The 126 teams was actually an increase from the 123 included in NCAA Football 13. So what changed? Well in 2013, South Alabama, Georgia State, and Old Dominion all made the jump to the FBS level and were subsequently added to NCAA 14‘s lineup.

Here‘s a full conference by conference breakdown of the 126 teams featured in the last version of everyone‘s favorite college football video game franchise:

ConferenceTeams in Game
SEC14
Big Ten12
ACC14
Big 1210
Pac-1212
MAC13
Mountain West12
Conference USA14
Sun Belt8
WAC1
Independents4

It‘s incredible the amount of detail that went into getting every FBS team from 2013 accurately represented in the game. From stadiums, to uniforms, to playbooks – it was a college football fan‘s dream.

While the original 126 teams are still there at the core, the community has done an amazing job providing yearly updated rosters, conference alignment, and other mods that improve realism and replay value. It speaks to why NCAA 14 remains so popular nearly 10 years after release as both a football game and nostalgia trip.

So in summary – there are a total of 126 teams in NCAA Football 14 making it the most in-depth college football gaming experience ever. And that‘s why myself and thousands of other fans still treasure it as the best sports video game of all-time!

Let me know in the comments if you have any other NCAA 14 questions. I could talk about this game all day!
