How much YouTube Shorts pay for 100K views?

As a gaming content creator who has started sharing YouTube Shorts, I was excited when Shorts revenue got integrated into the YouTube Partner Program. This means Shorts creators can now earn money directly from Shorts, just like regular YouTube videos.

In my first month of monetizing Shorts content, I earned $287 from 100,000 Shorts views. Here is a detailed breakdown:

YouTube Shorts Ad Revenue

I earned $203 last month directly from YouTube Shorts ads:

  • 100,000 Shorts views at a $0.002 RPM
  • This Shorts RPM is lower than my average YouTube video RPM of around $0.005
  • YouTube takes a 55% revenue share, I earned 45% of net ad earnings

I expected lower Shorts ad earnings since people watch Shorts for less time per view than regular videos.

YouTube Shorts Estimated Earnings Table

YouTube Shorts ViewsEstimated Revenue (45%)
100,000$203
500,000$1,015
1 million$2,030

YouTube Shorts Fund Bonus

I also earned an extra one-time bonus of $84 from the YouTube Shorts Fund:

  • Very competitive, only top 1% of Shorts creators qualify
  • Bonus amount based on views, engagement, etc.
  • Payout is unpredictable month-to-month

I was lucky to rank highly last month. But the bonus is hit or miss.

Other Revenue from Shorts Viewers

On top of direct ad revenue, Shorts delivered additional income:

  • Earned ~$100 from affiliate links & sponsors promoted in Shorts
  • Shorts views brought 4,800 new channel subscribers
  • Additional long-form video views generated extra revenue

The extra exposure from viral Shorts helps make money in other ways through my channel.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I‘m still figuring this out but happy to share everything I‘ve learned so far about making money from Shorts as a gaming creator.
