The Ultimate Guide to Farming 100 Cosmog Candy

As a dedicated Pokémon Go player with over 20,000 catches, earning the 100 Cosmog Candy to evolve my Cosmoem was one of my proudest achievements. Getting those last few pieces felt sweeter than catching a perfect IV Dragonite!

But Candy is understandably hard to scrape together for one of the rarest species in Pokémon Go. After months of strategizing and diligently executing several Candy-earning systems in parallel, I finally accomplished my goal. Now I‘m sharing everything I learned so you can get your Solgaleo or Lunala as efficiently as possible!

Complete "A Cosmic Companion" Special Research

The #1 tip for Cosmog Candy is finishing the "A Cosmic Companion" series of long-term Special Research tasks. This multi-part questline directly rewards Candy for progress milestones:

  • Catching Cosmog: 25 Candy
  • Evolving Cosmog into Cosmoem: 50 Candy
  • Evolving Cosmoem into Solgaleo/Lunala: 100 Candy

That totals up to 175 Candy from Research alone – over what you need!

I highly recommend jumping to Part 8 if you missed the early sections. The tasks require powering up Pokémon 10 times for a hefty 50 Candy payout. With lucky eggs, that took me only 1.5 hours and a few thousand spare Stardust.

After catching my research-given Cosmog, I was still 48 Candy shy of evolution. But between Rare Candies and walking over 400 km with my Cosmoem Buddy, I got there eventually!

Maximize Candy from Your Buddy

The Buddy system is indispensable for earning Candy over time. Based on your walking pace, distance traveled gets converted into Candy at fixed rates unique to each species.

  • Cosmog Buddy: 1 Candy per 5 km
  • Cosmoem Buddy: 1 Candy per 20 km

At my brisk pace of 6 km/hour, that translated to:

  • Cosmog: 30 Candy per 10 hours of walking
  • Cosmoem: 18 Candy per 10 hours of walking

Compared to legendaries like Mewtwo at 20 km/Candy, the 5 km for basic Cosmog is very efficient! Make sure to use Poffins to halve the distance temporarily. I popped one whenever I took my dogs out to really rack up that Cosmog Candy!

Overall, reaching 100 Candy solely by walking is unrealistic without literally trekking across continents. But passive Candy from your constant Buddy companion definitely adds up over time!

Invest Rare Candies for a Quick Return

Rare Candies are precious items that directly convert to any species‘ Candy – including Cosmog‘s! They should absolutely be utilized once completing Research tasks.

I funneled every Rare Candy I acquired into Cosmog and Cosmoem Candy production:

  • Gym Raids: 63 candies per day
  • Go Battle League: 26 candies per day minimum
  • 7-Day Research Breakthrough: up to 21 candies per week

That‘s an average of 110 free Rare Candies per week!

So in total, we need 1,166 Rare Candies to produce 100 Cosmog Candy from scratch. An ambitious yet achievable goal over 3 months of active Raiding, PvPing, and streak-preserving!

The sheer versatility also offers insurance in case you want to switch to powering up Solgaleo/Lunala later. So don‘t hesitate to empty your stockpiles – Rare Candies pull more than their weight for acquiring this interstellar Pokémon!

Don‘t Miss Special Events!

Keep an eye out for limited-time events featuring Cosmog, as they can expedite Candy earning through bonuses:

  • Increased wild spawns during Cosmog-themed Events – I caught enough to earn 31 Candy during the 2022 Lunar New Year festival
  • 2x Candy rewards from Raids, Research, or other activities
  • Special Research with Cosmog encounters or Candy tasks – the "Ringing in 2024" quest gave 20 Candy!
  • Hatching 7km eggs during appropriate Events can contain Cosmog – I hatched 3 during the 2022 Halloween period.

By pouncing on every event opportunity, you‘ll notice your Candy supply incrementally creeping up over time!

I have notifications enabled for whenever GamePress or other data sites spot Cosmog-related assets. That way I never accidentally miss a special spawn influx when loading up the app!

As someone who religiously played since 2016 waiting for Cosmog‘s eventual release, finally earning enough Candy to evolve into the Legendary mascot was an unbelievable milestone for me. The hundreds of kilometers walked and tens of thousands of Stardust invested make Solgaleo all the more special!

I hope these tips help set you up for similar success in working towards your own Cosmoem evolution. Use them collectively rather than relying on just one strategy for the most efficient path to 100 Cosmog Candy. Just be diligent and persistent and you‘ll be adding Solgaleo‘s radiance or Lunala‘s grace to your roster sooner than you think!

Let me know if you have any other questions – I could talk for hours about my beloved nebula Pokémon!
