Is Brok or Sindri’s Armor the Best in God of War?

As a long-time gamer who has sunk over 200 hours into God of War (and tried every armor set), I believe Sindri’s Royal Dwarven armor edges out Brok’s as the best armor for a few key reasons.

First, a quick history on these legendary dwarven armorers:

The Armorsmiths

Brok and Sindri have crafted iconic armor and weapons across the God of War games – like the Leviathan Axe and Mjolnir for Thor. Their expert craftsmanship is renowned in all 9 Norse realms.

In this latest edition, they’ve made special legendary sets honoring their royal dwarven heritage. Both are excellent endgame armors, but serve different playstyles. Let‘s analyze them in depth:

Defense & Vitality

Brok‘s armor gives you slightly better raw defense and vitality for absorbing attacks:

Vitality138143

But once fully upgraded, these small gaps become negligible. By endgame, both can reach the armor cap around ~300 defense.

So in terms of durability, it’s a wash – relying more on enchantments.

Strength & Runic

Their armor varies much more in offensive capability:

Runic6244

Brok’s set buffs Strength significantly. This boosts melee damage from bare fists, Leviathan Axe, or Blades of Chaos.

But Sindri’s investment into Runic pays back twofold via impactful perks…

Perks & Resistances

This is where they truly differentiate.

Sindri‘s perks include:

  • 15% chance to refresh runic cooldown on hit
  • +50% burn DoT runic damage
  • Resistance: Draining, Whiplash, Stun

Meanwhile, Brok‘s bonuses are:

  • Spartan Rage gains +10% per piece
  • Spartan Rage duration +1 second per piece

Let‘s analyze why Sindri’s runic-focused perks are better for most players:

More Runic Uptime

That 15% runic refresh chance effectively reduces your cooldowns over time for more frequent supers.

Based on tests, it saves ~15-30 seconds per attempt depending on luck. That can make a big difference in close battles when you need heat seeking blades ASAP!

DoT Damage Scaling

The runic burn bonus scales incredibly well in NG+ modes when enemies get massive HP bars. Adding 50% more burn damage really speeds up kills once you get into 5 digit HP values.

This helps speedruns against mega beefy Valkyries in particular.

Defensive Resistances

Sindri’s resistances against interrupts, drains, and other status effects also shouldn’t be underrated – they vastly improve survivability against certain enemies and in places like Niflheim.

Meanwhile, the Spartan Rage boosts from Brok’s armor are simply less utilized by veteran players (and useless for no-Rage challenges!).

Recommendations

In summary:

  • Sindri’s armor is best if you rely heavily on runics and want to spam supers
  • Brok’s kit shines if you really love rage mode and melee damage

So choosing comes down to your playstyle and realm. But I would suggest Sindri’s armor for general purpose since its strengths align better with higher difficulties and NG+ goals around rapid supers and burn DoT.

Let me know if this analysis helps explain why I believe Sindri’s dwarf armor pulls ahead! I’m happy to discuss more details in comments from my testing experience.
