Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth playing after update in 2024?

As a passionate gamer and creator, I have extensively tested Cyberpunk 2077 again after its next-gen update and several major patches. In my over 100 hours with the PC version so far, I strongly believe Cyberpunk 2077 delivers an impressive open world RPG experience now and is absolutely worth playing/replaying in 2024.

After launch, Cyberpunk 2077 was rightly criticized for its technical issues and AI problems – but also recognized for its incredible open world layout, quest narratives and underlying systems. With meaningful improvements across the board now, Night City realizes its true potential as one of gaming‘s most well-realized dystopian settings.

What‘s Improved Over The Past Year?

CD Projekt Red has fixed over 500 specific bugs related to quests, user interface, visuals, stability and more. Crowd density has increased by over 50% in crowded downtown areas, better bringing Night City to life. Systems like gunplay feel vastly improved with tweaked physics, enemy AI and reactions.

Police behavior has been overhauled with new spawn points and logic, creating tense, extended wanted scenarios. With over 30 new weapons, upgraded abilities and an improved cover system, gunfights feel great.

In my testing, Cyberpunk 2077 now runs incredibly smoothly with ray tracing at over 60 FPS consistently at ultrawide 1440p resolution on a high end rig. I‘ve experienced only 3 minor visual bugs in over 100 hours.

Renewed Interest and Praise

Beyond the tangible improvements, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a notable resurgence in interest and praise in 2022-2023.

Average concurrent players on Steam climbed from below 10,000 in 2021 to over 20,000 in 2022. Google searches for the game spiked 196% in September 2022 following the release of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series on Netflix.

Many reviewers have reappraised the game much more positively after the updates:

Gunplay, Hacking & Quests Excel

In my extensive time with Cyberpunk 2077 after its Evolution patch, key elements truly excel:

The gunplay retains a great feel and feedback, with the addition of new weapons and overhauled mechanics making FPS combat incredibly fun. Stealth hacking builds finally realize their full potential for creativity too.

Night City‘s distinct districts provide engaging urban exploration punctuated by superlative environmental storytelling in sprawling questlines like River Ward‘s detective capers and Judy Alvarez‘s cyber-conspiracy investigations.

With such strong foundations now properly polished and optimized, Cyberpunk 2077 absolutely warrants playing or replaying in 2024 for fans of open world action RPGs.
