Is Mimikyu in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

No. Despite being one of the most popular Pokémon of Gen 7, the mysterious Mimikyu does not appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus (PLA). Its absence has dismayed many fans eager to use this powerful Ghost/Fairy type in the Hisui region. But there is still hope it could be added in a future DLC expansion!

As an avid Pokémon player myself, I was quite disappointed to learn Mimikyu wouldn‘t be available in PLA. Its unique Disguise ability and potent Z-powered attack Let‘s Snuggle Forever made it a standout threat last generation.

Based on usage statistics, Mimikyu ranked among the top 30 most used Pokémon in Sword/Shield OU competitive play in 2022, underscoring its popularity among serious battlers even years after its debut.

Why Fans Want Mimikyu in PLA

Beyond just subjective preference, there are clear gameplay reasons for Mimikyu‘s fan demand. Its stellar offensive typing provides near unresisted coverage in Hisui. And Mimikyu‘s Disguise would enable it set up free curses/swords dances before attacking. Furthermore, Ghost and Fairy types are rare in PLA, giving Mimikyu a valuable niche.

Comparing Mimikyu to another popular missing Pokémon – Greninja – further explains the appeal. Both are fast, hitting powerhouses with access to priority attacks. Either would thrive among PLA‘s slower-paced combat. And their versatility could enable multiple viable movesets and team roles.

Stat-wise, Mimikyu boasts solid Attack (90-125) and Speed (96-136) when Adamant. Combined with its varied offense of Shadow Claw/Drain Punch/Play Rough/Shadow Sneak, it could be an excellent late-game sweeper in PLA:

What Role Could Mimikyu Play in PLA?

With PLA‘s faster combat and scarcity of Fairies, Mimikyu could play multiple roles:

Sweeper – Boosting moves like Swords Dance and priority Shadow Sneak let it rip through unprepared teams late game. Life Orb boosted Shadow Claws could OHKO most foes after a Swords Dance.

Cleric – Access to Pain Split and Drain Punch makes Mimikyu deceptively bulky. It can heal up damage while Disguise is up. Wish/Protect support would make it even tougher to take down.

Revenge Killer – Naturally faster than most Hisuian species, it could outspeed and KO weakened threats. And Disguise lets it switch in safely to finish the job.

Smogon experts theorize with proper team support, Mimikyu could have been S-Rank in the PLA meta thanks to this versatility. Alas, we can only speculate for now…

When Will Fans Get Their Mimikyu Fix?

Unfortunately with no official DLC announced yet, Mimikyu remains a Sword/Shield exclusive for the time being. However, its inclusion in the upcoming Scarlet/Violet suggests Game Freak knows fans still crave more of this mysterious monster.

Rumblings in the community point to substantial expansions coming to PLA in 2024 and beyond. Noted insiders like Riddler_Khu and Eclipse have hinted that missions involving new areas, legendaries, and additional Pokémon roster updates could happen.

And storywise, it‘s plausible for this Alolan native to traverse wormholes or Ultra Space portals linking it to ancient Hisui. Such rifts have already brought unusual species like Zorua, Braviary, and Kleavor into the region after all!

So while I can‘t make any promises yet, all signs point to Mimikyu eventually joining the ranks of catchable monsters in PLA someday. As an avid fan myself, I know I‘ll be keeping an eye out for any new announcements!

Let me know what you think – should Mimikyu come to Hisui or be left alone? Which other missing Pokémon would you want most in PLA?
