What are Juventus fans called

As a passionate Juventus fan and football content creator, I am often asked what the main nickname is for supporters of the glorious Old Lady. The simple answer is Juventini or Bianconeri! These two terms neatly encapsulate our proud history as the most successful club in Italian football.

But ask any true Juventino and they‘ll tell you the story behind some of our other iconic nicknames, passed down through generations of football fans in Turin and beyond!

Gobbi (The Hunchbacks)

One of the most popular monikers is I Gobbi (The Hunchbacks). This rather unflattering term originated in the 1950s. Back then the large, baggy wool jerseys created a hump-like bulge on players‘ backs as they ran up and down the field.

Over time this nickname became a mark of pride and defiance for Bianconeri fans. It represented the grit, determination and unrelenting spirit ingrained in Juventus history. When opposition fans chant "Gobbi" at us nowadays, we wear it as a badge of honor!

La Vecchia Signora (The Old Lady)

Juve are also referred to as La Vecchia Signora (The Old Lady). As one of the oldest and most respected clubs in Serie A, having been founded way back in 1897, we have rightly earned this nickname.

Much like a refined, elderly woman demanding admiring glances as she walks by, Juventus classily commands respect from football fans across the peninsula for our glorious history of success. 36 Scudetti, 14 Coppa Italia triumphs, 9 Supercoppa Italiana victories!

These records and silverware hauls are unrivaled. It‘s why Bianconeri supporters puff out our chests as we belt out chants professing our "Grande Amore" for this regal Old Lady of Italian football!

Juventus Fan Chants & Songs

Chant/SongMeaning
"Fino Alla Fine"Until the End – Referring to Juventus‘ willingness to fight until the final whistle
"Juve, Storia Di Un Grande Amore"Juve, History of a Great Love – Professing undying love/loyalty
"Che Senso Ha"What‘s the Point – Directed at opposing fans to suggest resistance is futile against dominant Juve

These are just a taste of the many songs and chants rang out from Curva Sud on matchdays. Led by passionate groups like ultras Drughi, the stadium atmosphere shakes with support and defiance in good times and bad.

We may be the most hated fans in Italy, but with 39 Scudetti we‘ve earned every ounce of jealousy and begrudging respect!

Fiery Local Rivalries

As a Turin native I‘ve grown up despising northern rivals Torino. But make no mistake, Juventini‘s most heated rivalries are with southern clubs like Napoli and Inter.

There‘s a long-standing sporting, cultural and economic rivalry between northern industrial towns like Turin and southern port cities like Naples. When we clash there‘s no mercy, only passionate hatred!

The loathing runs deep. Bianconeri fans will never forget Maradona‘s villainous spell helping Napoli temporarily upset Juve‘s dominance in the late 80s. But as 14-time defending Serie A champions, we have re-asserted our superiority!

Why Such Loyal Fans?

Across over 120 years we‘ve survived multiple scandals and relegations. These experiences forged an unbreakable bond between fans and club. We stick together through thick and thin knowing glory inevitably awaits again before too long.

While plastics come and go, true Juventini are in it for life! No matter where you‘re from, if you join the Bianconeri brotherhood with open arms you‘ll always be welcome. Just be ready to shout yourself hoarse cheering on the legendary Old Lady to yet more trophy triumphs!

Fino Alla Fine! Forza Juve!
