What are PS Plus games for March 2023?

The full lineup of PlayStation Plus games for March 2023 has been announced by Sony. PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are getting over a dozen new titles added on March 21st, including major releases like Ghostwire: Tokyo, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and indie adventure Tchia.

Meanwhile Essential members can download Meet Your Maker, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Tails of Iron for free starting on March 7th.

Let‘s take a deep dive into the new games coming to PlayStation Plus this month!

Biggest New Additions for March 2023

Without a doubt, the highlight addition this month is Ghostwire: Tokyo. This eerie action-adventure game has you fighting dangerous supernatural forces with an arsenal of spectral abilities. Set in a stunningly realized haunted version of Tokyo, it marries a unique setting with fast-paced combat focused on tactile spell-casting. Exclusive to PS5, Ghostwire takes excellent advantage of the new hardware for immersive graphics and haptic feedback.

Next up is the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, offering visually enhanced versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief‘s End and spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. These quintessential PS4 exclusives follow charismatic hero Nathan Drake on epic globe-trotting adventures, pairing cinematic stories with thrilling action set pieces. It‘s a must-play package for fans of the series or anyone who enjoys story-driven blockbuster games.

For anime lovers, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot retells the entire Dragon Ball Z saga in comprehensive RPG form. It‘s packed with fan service moments recreating iconic fights down to small details. Outside of combat you can fish, cook, train, and explore pretty scenes full of nods to the show. With hours upon hours of content, this love letter to DBZ is great for longtime devotees or action RPG players in general.

And for something completely different, keep an eye on Tchia. This gorgeous open world adventure lets you take control of animals and objects using a unique "soul jumping" mechanic. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant Pacific island culture of New Caledonia, it promises a vibrant, uplifting journey through a fully interactive tropical paradise. Developed by an indie studio formed by former Ubisoft developers, Tchia could end up being a surprise standout.

What Games Are Leaving PS Plus on March 7th?

Unfortunately, the PS Plus lineup refresh also removes some titles each month. On March 7th, 9 games across various platforms will be taken off the service:

  • Danger Zone (PS4)
  • Dungeons 2 (PS4)
  • Ghost of a Tale (PS4)
  • Monster Energy Supercross 5 (PS4, PS5)
  • Override 2: Super Mech League (PS4, PS5)
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (PS4)
  • Velocibox (PS4, PS5)
  • Victor Vran Overkill Edition (PS4)
  • WWE 2K22 (PS4, PS5)

It‘s expected that Sony rotates out some titles regularly. Often removed games are older or less popular. But it still stings to see awesome games like Override 2 vanished from the accessible back catalogue. So be aware of expiring licenses! Grab anything that looks interesting to you before March 7th to add it permanently to your owned library.

What‘s On The Horizon – Predicted April PS Plus Games

We‘re still a ways off from April, but some leaked information suggests what could be coming down the pipeline soon for PS Plus subscribers:

  • Back 4 Blood – This intense 4-player co-op zombie FPS was hugely anticipated, and it just might shuffle its way onto PS Plus to expand the player base.
  • Crysis Remastered Trilogy – Renowned for pushing hardware to the limits with its cutting edge graphics, Crysis deserves a spot in the spotlight to show off PS5 power.
  • Darksiders III – The Darksiders series has always offered top notch combat and exploration for action RPG fans.

Of course leaks should be taken with skepticism. But one or more of these making an appearance in April doesn‘t seem unlikely! We‘ll have to wait for official word from Sony.

The Future and Predictions for PlayStation Plus

2022 saw Sony roll out their expanded PS Plus relaunch to match competition from Xbox Game Pass. Early reception is positive, with more content and better value propositions getting subs to convert to higher tiers. However there‘s still room for improvement in terms of filling gaps for certain genres and expanding backwards compatibility options.

I predict that in 2023, Sony will continue sweetening the pot by negotiating for heavy-hitting day one launches on the Extra/Premium catalog. Things like the rumored Final Fantasy XVI or Marvel‘s Spiderman 2 dropping onto PS Plus immediately would make huge splashes.

Furthermore, they need to improve support for older PlayStation platforms. The current drip-feed of PS1/PSP games is going too slowly. They should open the floodgates for at least 500 titles across PS1, 2, 3, and portable libraries ASAP.

With some tweaking, PS Plus can shift from just a nice bonus for online play into a full blown Netflix-style content platform giving amazing value to PlayStation gamers. The March updates look great, but it‘s still just the beginning!
