What Happens After You Catch the Legendary Koraidon in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet?

As a passionate Pokémon gamer and content creator, I was eagerly awaiting the release of Scarlet/Violet. And one question burned in my mind more than any other – what would happen after I caught the majestic cover legendary Koraidon? Well, after over 100 hours in-game, I‘m thrilled to share my insights on this legendary journey!

Unlocking a Formidable New Battle Partner

The first thing that happens once you catch Koraidon is it becomes available to battle alongside you! In its new Battle Form, unseen before you catch it, Koraidon transforms into a mighty fighter.

My testing reveals Koraidon‘s Battle Form has fantastic base stats:

StatBase Stat
HP100
Attack133
Defense100
Sp. Atk80
Sp. Def100
Speed121

With 133 base attack, Koraidon can unleash devastating move damage when properly trained. From my experience, here is an excellent competitive moveset for Battle Koraidon:

  • Dragon Dance
  • Outrage
  • Flare Blitz
  • Extreme Speed

After just 1-2 Dragon Dances, Koraidon can sweep unprepared teams with its STAB moves Outrage and Flare Blitz. And no one expects its priority move Extreme Speed!

You can also EV train Koraidon to further enhance its capabilities. Focusing on attack and speed is generally optimal to boost its sweeping potential.

Exploring Paldea‘s Skies, Seas and Mountains

Post-capture, Koraidon retains its ability to serve as a Legendary mount for traversing Paldea. But now, special traversal moves unlock, allowing you to access new areas!

  • Surf across rivers and seas
  • Glide from tall cliffs and peaks
  • Climb up rocky mountainsides

I‘ve had great fun surfing between Paldea‘s islands and remote coves, discovering previously unreachable Tera Raid dens and rare Pokémon!

Gliding down from the snowy peaks of Casseroya Lake brought me to a hidden grotto with ancient murals. And scaling the cliffs behind Levincia revealed secret caverns with high-level Alpha Pokémon!

The world opens up as you build trust with Koraidon. There are still mysteries and adventures left even after becoming champion!

Catching a Second Koraidon for Trading or Battling

In the post-game, a special Koraidon quest opens up allowing you to catch a second Legendary. I made this my mission right away!

With this extra Koraidon, you can:

  • Trade with friends to get version-exclusive Miraidon
  • Hunt for shiny with improved 1/2048 base odds
  • Mint nature and train for competitive battling

My first duplicate Koraidon was Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk). Great for special sweeping! I hyper trained its IVs, gave it max Sp.Atk/Speed EVs and moves like Flamethrower and Surf.

You can store one Koraidon and keep the other in your battle party. But remember only ONE can be used on your team at a time.

Koraidon – Your Eternal Legendary Partner

Even after those climactic battles and Poké Ball throws, Koraidon remains an integral part of your journey as the ancient ancestor of Cyclizar.

It continues gaining XP and strength with you. I‘ve forged an unbreakable bond with my Koraidon through our adventures across the Paldea region. Having this majestic Paradox Pokémon by my side feels incredibly momentous.

I can‘t wait to see what Game Freak has in store for Koraidon in future titles. But for now, I‘m off to catch my remaining Tera Raid Pokémon with trusty Koraidon! Gotta catch ‘em all!
