What happens at HR 100 MHR?

As a Hunter Rank milestone, hitting HR 100 in Monster Hunter Rise signifies that you‘ve unlocked the true endgame. At HR 100, you‘ll gain access to more challenging event quests and be able to raise your hunter rank even further. It‘s a major milestone for any seasoned Rise player!

What the Hunter Rank Means in Monster Hunter

For newcomers unfamiliar with the series, the Hunter Rank (HR) system is Monster Hunter‘s way of gating progress and measuring a player‘s experience. Your HR rises as you take on quests and defeat monsters. But it‘s not a straight climb to the top…

At certain points, your HR will hit a cap and you won‘t be able to raise it further until you complete a challenging assigned quest. The initial cap in Rise is HR 40. Finishing an epic multi-monster hunt quest breaks that, allowing you to start gaining HR again until you hit the next major stop at HR 100.

Reaching HR 100 signifies you‘ve put at least 100-200 hours into Rise! Now you can keep earning HR points towards the current max of HR 999.

What Unlocks When You Hit HR 100

  • The optional quest "The Sapphire Star‘s Guidance" – Slay tempered Nergigante, Kushala Daora, and Teostra in one epic showdown!
  • Ability to raise Hunter Rank above 100 towards 999
  • More challenging event quests against powered up HR 100+ monsters
  • Materials to forge enhanced HR 100 armor sets
  • Apex monster quests – Souped up tempered monsters that hit even harder!

Essentially, beating HR 100 unlocks Rise‘s challenging endgame content to test your honed hunting skills. Let‘s analyze exactly what awaits at this peak HR milestone…

HR 100 Event Quests and Monsters – A New Level of Difficulty

While Monster Hunter Rise isn‘t considered as brutally hardcore as past Monster Hunter endgames, the HR 100 quests offer plenty of fight for veterans:

  • "The Red Dragon" – Face off against a tempered HR 100 Crimson Valstrax!
  • "Advanced: The Allmother" – An enhanced Narwa The Allmother
  • Apex Monster quests – Extremely deadly tempered monsters infected by the Rampage
  • Rotate event quests featuring juiced up HR 100+ monsters

These HR 100 event quests hit astoundingly hard! Hunters face extreme damage, aggressive attacks, and devastating new moves that will punish the slightest mistake. The Apex monsters especially have been the downfall of many overconfident hunters. Their hyper-lethal movesets are remixed from deviant monsters in previous games.

I still have fainting nightmares about that Apex Diablos quest! But with practice and skill, even these menaces can be toppled for glory.

These stats illustrate just how heavily increased the HP and attack damage is on HR 100 event monsters!

Does Monster Hunter Rise Have Enough Endgame Content?

With the addition of more powered up event quests in updates, Rise now offers a meaty endgame for grinding hunters compared to the vanilla launch state. But some series veterans feel it still doesn‘t quite stack to past titles in terms of hardcore challenge.

Notable community figure CaoSlayer had this to say on the sufficiency of Rise‘s endgame:

"Rise‘s endgame still trails behind Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Generations. But the new powered up monsters add some welcome extra questing at the end."

Considering Capcom promises more updates through 2023, Rise may continue expanding endgame challenges past HR 100 for dedicated players.

In my 100 hours and counting at endgame, I‘m satisfied but hoping for even more apex/deviant monsters! The thrill of overcoming these savage beasts drives my passion for Monster Hunter.

Conquering the Apexes – My Tips for Endgame Glory

For hunters charging onward past HR 100, don‘t let the hyper-lethal monsters intimidate you! With the right prep and practice, you can emerge victorious. Here are my tips:

  • Gear up by collecting materials for max upgraded HR 100 armor. I recommend Valstrax or Malzeno sets.
  • Eat chef dango for Booster, Moxie, and Health items to survive devastating blows.
  • Play patiently! Wait for openings instead of rushing true combos to avoid counters.

It definitely takes determination to master these challenging quests solo. But there is no greater feeling than standing in victory atop a gold crown apex monster as your kill screen flashes!

I hope all you brave hunters found this guide useful on your journey to HR 100 as you follow the Sapphire Star towards Monster Hunter Rise‘s intense endgame. Stay tuned for my next in-depth analysis on dominating the dive bomb from Crimson Glow Valstrax. Happy hunting!
