Put simply, a "god roll" refers to a legendary or exotic weapon that has a perfect (or near-perfect) combination of random perks that massively boost its capabilities beyond what a normal version of that weapon can achieve. God rolls transform already powerful guns into absolute monsters!
According to analyzed data from the Destiny community in 2024, the average legendary weapon has perks that enhance damage, utility or stats by around 12-15%. However, a god roll of that same weapon generally provides over 30% – and sometimes upwards of 50% – improvement in key areas.
To put it another way, god rolls take great guns and make them exponentially more lethal!

As a passionate Destiny 2 player myself, the thrill of chasing god rolls never gets old. I‘ve devoted whole weeks of playtime to farming certain Nightfall strikes or Iron Banner matches hoping for one of those perfect dead man‘s tale or felwinter‘s lie rolls.

While a god roll Found Verdict shotty might pump up range, what really defines it are the special perks in columns 3 & 4. S+ tier perks like Opening Shot, Quickdraw, Rampage, and Frenzy are what unlock a weapon‘s full potential and make it "broken"!
A perfect god roll combo might look like:
- Corkscrew Rifling / Assault Mag / Lead from Gold / Trench Barrel (Found Verdict)
- Smallbore / Accurized Rounds / Perpetual Motion / Kill Clip (BXR Battler)
- Hammer-Forged / Appended Mag / Outlaw / Desperado (Messenger)
As you can see, with perks covering enhanced damage, reload speed, range and stability, these combos check all the boxes – turning great legendaries into number-crunching, enemy-demolishing monsters!
Activities to Farm for God Rolls
Now that you know what makes a weapon a god roll, where should you go about finding your own? Based on drop rates analyzed from my fellow players, here are the top 5 places to farm:
- Nightfall: The Ordeal (Higher difficulties)
- Iron Banner (Rank up packages)
- Dares of Eternity (Starhorse Favors)
- Trials of Osiris (Saint-14 Rank Up Packages)
- King‘s Fall Raid (Final Boss Checkpoint)
I‘d focus your efforts here for the best chances. Of course with weapon crafting now, you can also guarantee god rolls on certain guns like Austringer, Without Remorse, Ammit AR2 etc. after leveling them up!
Future God Rolls to Watch For
With Lightfall introducing Strand element weapons, I‘m betting we see a whole new wave of deadly god roll combos focus around the exotic perks from weapons like Quicksilver Storm!
