Regieleki Rockets Past Calyrex as the Undisputed Speed King

When it comes to raw speed in the Pokémon universe, few can contend with the Legendary majesty of Calyrex. With a whopping base speed stat of 150, this Crown Tundra Psychic/Grass-type easily outpaces most opponents. But the hype train slams to a halt against Regieleki, the quirky new Electric-type Titan introduced in Gen 8.

Regieleki Leaves Calyrex In the Dust

Sporting a ludicrous base speed stat of 200, Regieleki simply operates at a different level of speed compared to Calyrex. Here‘s a snapshot stat comparison:

Calyrex150
Regieleki200

With 50 more base speed, the choice for fastest Pokémon is clear. When both are max investment in speed, the difference is even more dramatic:

  • Timid Calyrex: 339 speed
  • Jolly Regieleki: 394 speed

Fully outsped by 55 points, Calyrex would only move second barring speed control shenanigans. Regieleki‘s electrifying pace leaves the King of Bountiful Harvests sputtering in the dust.

A Legendary Outpaced By Bugs? Ninjask and Pheromosa Also Beat Calyrex

While Regieleki occupies a tier of its own, two other non-legendaries also edge out Calyrex in speed – Ninjask and Pheromosa. Here are their base stats:

PokémonBase Speed
Ninjask160
Pheromosa151

Ninjask‘s considerable 160 base speed gives it a solid edge, but Fighting/Bug-type Mythical Pheromosa just barely scrapes by with 1 more speed than Calyrex.

So while Regieleki remains in a commanding lead, players can breed a Ninjask or event hunt for Pheromosa to outpace the Psychic/Grass Legendary.

Speed Isn‘t Everything, But It Helps!

Raw speed itself doesn‘t crown champion Pokémon, but it‘s undoubtedly an asset granting crucial positioning in battle. All else being equal, faster Pokémon move first, gaining potential momentum-shifting hits.

While sheer speed forces respect, factors like typing, abilities, stats, and movepools remain critical too. And speed control via Tailwind, Icy Wind, Electroweb allows slower Pokémon to gain an edge.

But with its phenomenal speed tier, access to priority moves, and solid offensive presence, Regieleki has carved a formidable niche as an electric attacking Dynamax sweeper. Meanwhile, Ninjask and Pheromosa‘s blistering pace makes them threatening late-game cleaners.

So while Calyrex still reigns supreme through its unique Cavalry mechanics and mighty stat spread, players craving blinding battle speed will chase the Lightning Titan Regieleki or buggy speed demons Ninjask and Pheromosa.

The Need For Speed Continues!

The thirst for speedy pocket monsters continues as players devour new Pokémon releases with each generation. And Game Freak never fails to deliver, blessing fans with speed freaks like Regieleki to shake up the competitive meta.

With Gen 9 on the horizon, you can bet cunning battle enthusiasts are theorycrafting the next speed king to dominate the rankings. So while Regieleki, Ninjask, and Pheromosa currently outpaced Calyrex, future Pokémon promise to electrify us with even more ludicrous velocity!
