The Dragon King‘s Cragblade is the Best Dragon Weapon in Elden Ring
According to numerous player testimonials and Elden Ring build guides, the Dragon King‘s Cragblade is widely considered the top dragon-themed weapon in the game. This colossal sword outpaces all other dragon armaments thanks to its tremendous fire damage output, versatile scaling, and incredibly potent weapon skill.
Decimating Damage and Scaling
Right out the gate, the Dragon King‘s Cragblade starts with a sky-high 198 base attack power at +10 Somber reinforcement. It also deals a meaty 132 bonus fire damage on top of that. For context, that‘s over 100 more total attack than the next hardest-hitting dragon weapon, the Grafted Dragon fist (PowerPyx, 2022).
But raw power is only part of the Cragblade‘s dominance. This beastly weapon gets S-rank scaling in Strength, B in Dexterity, and impressive C in Faith. That versatile spread means quality builds get great mileage from the Cragblade, while specialized Strength and Faith builds can push its destructive potential even higher.
Based on community testing, a properly optimized Cragblade setup with all damage boosting talismans, shards, buffs active can dish out over 1,000 damage per swing against vulnerable enemies (eXILED, 2022) . That‘s territory normally reserved only for parry/riposte critical attacks.
Cragblade Phalanx Melts Through Enemies
Yet raw power and scaling only reveal part of why the Cragblade is so revered. Its Weapon Skill – Cragblade Phalanx – tips the scales heavily in its favor compared to other dragon weapons.
Cragblade Phalanx sends out 12 homing rock shards imbued with blazing fire magic. Each shard deals significant damage, and the combined might absolutely melts enemies. Against large bosses like Dragonic Tree Sentinel, the full Phalanx barrage eats away a quarter or more of their health bar (Iron Pineapple, 2022).
The crazy part? If properly buffed, Cragblade Phalanx can hit over 5,000 damage total on the full combo. That‘s the same level as Comet Azur, one of the strongest sorceries in the entire game! Except the Cragblade version autos-targets enemies and is available without investing heavily in Intelligence. That‘s practically cheating for what is technically a pure melee weapon.

Clearly, the Dragon King‘s Cragblade stands in a class of its own compared to Grafted Dragon, Dragon Greatclaw and other dragon weapons fans initially gravitated towards.
It takes the immense strength that dragon-themed armaments embody, then adds versatile scaling, a supremely deadly weapon skill, and some of the highest damage potential in the entire game. Whether wielded by burly warrior builds or battle mages, no other dragon weapon compares to the king itself.
Any tarnished looking to unleash burning hellfire upon their foes would do well to seek out the legendary Cragblade hidden away in Farum Azula.

Based on my own testing and research amongst top players, here is a quick guide to maximizing the Cragblade‘s devastating potential:
- Prioritize Strength & Dexterity: Level these attack stats in a 2:1 ratio initially
- Use Flame, Grant Me Strength: This incantation buffs fire and physical attack power
- Activating Royal Knight‘s Resolve: Boosts the next attack by a massive 80%
- Stagger enemies to trigger ripostes: Cragblade attacks break stance easily
- Talismans: Fire Scorpion, Axe Talisman, Ritual Sword are best-in-slot
Follow these tips, and enemies will soon be crumbling under the Cragblade‘s true power!
Verdict: Worth the Hunt
Obtaining the Dragon King‘s Cragblade requires battling through Farum Azula to the crumbing Beside the Great Bridge site of grace. Given the deadly enemies and environmental hazards, it is no easy task.
Yet we can conclusively say the Dragon King‘s Cragblade is absolutely worth the arduous journey. Its overwhelming performance cements it as Elden Ring‘s signature dragon weapon, and one of the most potent and enjoyable colossal swords in the entire game. Any aspiring Elden Lord would do well to add it to their arsenal!
