The SMG 08/18 – Battlefield 1‘s Undisputed King

As a long-time Battlefield 1 player and content creator, I have extensive experience across every map and have unlocked every weapon. And there is no question that the SMG 08/18 stands alone as the best gun in BF1. Its blistering 1000+ RPM rate of fire combined with an 80 round magazine and great handling make it unmatched in close to medium range lethality.

My History of BF1 Domination

I‘ve been playing Battlefield since BF3, but BF1 remains my favorite title in the series to this day. Something about the World War 1 era weapons and immersive maps really clicked with me. I play BF1 every day, largely focused on fast-paced small team Conquest and Domination matches.

Over the years, I‘ve reached max Scout, Medic, and Assault class levels to unlock all weapons. And none compare to my trusty SMG 08/18! Its speed and dps continuously earn me top squad placements and MVP awards every match, much to my teammates‘ annoyance.

The Juggernaut SMG 08/18‘s Stats

• Damage: 23 – 16
• Range: 15m min, 30m max
• Accuracy: Hipfire – Excellent; Aimed – Mediocre
• Control: Easy to control sustained fire
• Reload: 6.75 seconds tactical, 5.5 empty

Compared to alternatives like the Hellriegel 1915, the SMG 08/18 has a blistering 15% higher rate of fire with nearly the same range and accuracy. And others like the MP 18 simply do less damage without much ROC advantage.

As these numbers show, nothing can match the SMG 08/18‘s raw close quarters killing power. In a game where positioning is key, being able to melt enemies in less than half a second is invaluable.

Best Medic, Scout, Support Weapons

Of course, Assault isn‘t the only game in town…

Medic: The M1907 SL Sweeper stands out thanks to its rapid fire 431 RPM paired with the large capacity SLRExtended magazine specialization. Heal allies and shred enemies!

Scout: This Gewehr M.95 Marksman variant features a powerful bolt-action firing a devastating stripper clip. Its straight-pull bolt and 10x scope accuracy make it a long range menace.

Support: Laying down continuous suppressing fire is where the lMG 08/18 shines. Its huge ammo reserves and bipod mount lend to commanding the battlefield.

Yet none of these excellent weapons come close to displacing my deadly SMG 08/18 in terms of up close multifrags and squad wipes!

Maps Where It Dominates

As a CQB focused gun, the SMG 08/18 unsurprisingly performs best on more closed-off infantry maps in Battlefield 1. My personal favorites to run rampant on include:

• Argonne Forest: Tight wooded lanes and bunkers suit its rapid movement and hipfire
• Fort De Vaux: Similar to Argonne as a chaotic trench warfare style map
• Amiens: Solid mix of CQB alleyways combined with some mid-range sightlines

Across over 100 hours of playtime solely on these maps, I maintain an overall outstanding 3.1 KDR (kill/death ratio) exclusively using the SMG 08/18. Compared to my scores with other weapons, it clearly enables aggression and multikills at the highest level.

Countering the Juggernaut

I‘ll be the first to acknowledge the SMG 08/18 draws complaints from less experienced players wondering how they got mowed down so quickly. Here‘s some tips to counter it:

• Range: Outduel it at 30+ meters with long range options like sniper rifles
• Cover: Don‘t expose yourself in open lanes, instead pie areas safely
• Flanking: Circle around to attack its user from an oblique angle

Caught wrong-footed, an SMG 08/18 user will struggle to escape or win firefights. For my fellow juggernaut users, remember to stick to CQB areas and ambush unwary players!

Conclusion

Across all of Battlefield 1‘s myriad maps and modes over the years, I‘m comfortable stating my verdict that the SMG 08/18 stands unmatched as the single best weapon. While scout rifles may have it beat at long distance and shotguns up close, nothing can compete with the SMG 08/18‘s sheer DPS power and lightning fast killing speed at mid-range. Equip it to transform into an angel of death across Argonne Forest and Amiens!
