I mean,compare that to the catch rate of 255 for common Pokés like Caterpie or Pidgey that can be caught with simple Poké Balls nearly 100% of the time. Even powerful pseudo-legendaries like Dragonite and Tyranitar sit around a 45, while Eternatus from Sword and Shield was a walk in the park at a rate of 100!

So catching Miraidon truly tests the resolve of any trainer. But there are some tips and tricks that’ll boost your chances with this Cyprus Legendary Pokémon.

Calculating Your Odds: Catch Rate Mechanics Explained

The core formula for catch rate calculations goes as follows:

Catch% = (A*B)/(A*B+C)

Where:

• A = Capture Power Multiplier (based on ball type, status effects, low HP, etc.)
• B = Individual Capture Rate (the Pokémon‘s set catch rate value from 0-255)
• C = Species Capture Rate (a fixed number related to the Pokémon’s stats)

As you can see, raising that capture power variable is key!

Repeat Balls, Timer Balls and Dusk Balls if catching at night all confer at least a 3x catch rate bonus. Quick Balls on the first turn have a 5x bonus.

I’d recommend having a team member with Trick to swap Miraidon in if your first Quick Ball fails.

Hold Items

Some great choices here include Silver Powder, Dire Hit, X Attack, and Bright Powder to boost stats, inflict confusion, or make it harder for Miraidon to land attacks.

Team Members

Having an Absol with False Swipe, Pressure ability Pokémon like Dugtrio to drain PP, and hunters with Mean Look or arena trapper moves ensures Miraidon can’t escape and gives you plenty of ball throwing attempts!

Parasect with its Dry Skin ability and Spore also makes catching breezier.

Step-By-Step Catch Guide

Follow this roadmap to overhaul your odds:

1. Have Miraidon spawn by approaching its cosmo energy point after arriving at Lab Zero
2. Send in a Pokémon to use False Swipe and whittle it down to 1 HP
3. Switch to a Pressure Pokémon to drain Miraidon‘s PP and make it Struggle
4. Inflict paralysis, poison, confusion, etc. if possible
5. Swap back to throw specialized balls like Repeat or Timer Balls
6. Consider using an Adrenaline Orb item to call for ally Pokémon for extra turns
7. Heal and revive team members between Miraidon’s attacks if needed
8. Stock up on ball types; be prepared to throw potentially hundreds to succeed
9. If you fail, retry the next in-game midnight or daybreak for boosted rates
10. Never give up – with dedication your persistence will pay off!

And if you want to guarantee catching it, whipping out the ol’ Master Ball always does the trick.

But there’s immense satisfaction in finally snagging Miraidon through skill alone. So put your nose to the grindstone, adjust your strategy, and eventually you’ll be posing with your newly caught Legendary Cyprus Pokémon!
