What is the Elden Beast Weakest To in Elden Ring? Everything You Need To Know

As a long-time fan of FromSoftware games, I‘ve finally toppled the final boss of Elden Ring after an epic but grueling face-off. Despite towering in size and grandeur, the Elden Beast has specific weaknesses that can help you emerge victorious. In my experience, standard physical damage seems to be what it‘s weakest to overall.

Lore of the Majestic Elden Beast

Before diving into strategies, it helps to understand what you‘re up against lore-wise. This angelic creature is a physical manifestation of the Elden Ring itself – the metaphysical symbol that helps govern the laws of reality in the Lands Between.

As vessel to the power of Queen Marika, the Elden Beast prevents the demigods from accessing the Ring to become Elden Lord. When your Tarnished defeats her husband Radagon, the Beast emerges to function as the final test before you can wield this power.

With a serpentine body wreathed in gold and covered in graceful feathers, the Elden Beast is truly divine and majestic. But thankfully not invincible if you prepare correctly.

Resistance Profile and Damage Weakness Specifics

Due to its holy nature, the Elden Beast boasts high resistance to most standard damage types:

  • Immune to bleed, frost, rot, poison etc
  • Heals from holy damage – do not use
  • High robustness versus Magic, Fire and Lightning
  • Moderate vulnerability to Physical and Strike

Based on community testing and my own solo attempts, regular physical damage from melee weapons proves most effective in terms of DPS (damage per second). While holy is useless and status builds like bleed are non-viable, you can utilize other niche weaknesses too.

Here‘s a comparison of potential weaknesses and associated resistances:

Damage TypeEffectivenessResistance
Physical*****Moderate
Strike****Moderate
Magic***High
Fire***High
Lightning***High
Dark***Moderate
Rot/Poison***Immune (DoT works)
Frost*Immune
Bleed*Immune
Holy*Heals Enemy

As shown in the table above, all damage types face high resistance except standard physical and strike. But some of the niche weakness like Scarlet Rot‘s DoT can still be utilized. Let‘s explore some options.

Top Weapons and Ashes of War Against Elden Beast

Based on my testing below on a Vigor/Strength build, these are the most hard-hitting options that can overwhelm the Elden Beast through raw damage:

Weapons

  • Blasphemous Blade (645 AR)
  • Giant Crusher (1013 AR)
  • Guts Greatsword (972 AR)
  • Ruins Greatsword (1276 AR)

Ashes of War

  • Lion‘s Claw
  • Giant Hunt
  • Raptor of the Mists
  • Golden Slam
  • Sword Dance
  • Wild Strikes

The key advantage of regular physical damage is you can use weapon buffs like Royal Knight‘s Resolve to increase attack rating (AR) even further. Additionally, you‘ll regain HP with the Blasphemous Blade skill which helps staying power.

Against the Beast‘s jumping dive bomb for example, my +25 Giant Crusher was able to hit for over 5000 damage by baiting the attack then using Royal Knight‘s Resolve!

Exploiting Other Weaknesses and Damage Types

While physical works best as highlighted above, other damage sources like these can still contribute:

Rot/Poison

  • Serpentbone Blade (Rot + physical)
  • Rotten Breath (easy to apply rot buildup)
  • Poison Armament (for weapon buff)

The Elden Beast is immune to the status effects themselves, but still takes ongoing percentage damage when rotted or poisoned. This allows some nice passive damage.

Holy

  • DO NOT USE – Elden Beast actually heals from Holy so avoid it completely.

Darkness

  • Frenzied Burst (Greatsword sorcery)
  • Black Knife (passive HP damage)

Dark sorceries can work okay combined with melee combat. The Black Knife legendaries also do percentage damage while attacking.

Black Flame

  • Black Flame Ritual (scales off HP)
  • Black Flame Tornado

Another great supplemental damage type since the black fire attacks scale based on enemy max HP. Use these skills then swap back to your main weapon.

Recommended Talismans

To further buff your attack rating, these talismans work well against the Elden Beast:

  • Claw Talisman – Boosts jump attack power
  • Axe Talisman – Boosts charged attacks
  • Shard of Alexander – Boosts skill attack power
  • Ritual Sword Talisman – Increases skill damage at max HP

Time your jumps and heavies to maximize damage from the first two. Meanwhile Alexander and the Ritual Sword give a nice overall damage increase against the boss.

Optimal Strategies and Tips for Beating Elden Beast

After breaking down the statistical and numerical weaknesses, here are some key strategic pointers I‘ve gathered both from community tips and my own attempts:

  • Stay aggressive – Being passive allows more dangerous holy projectile attacks
  • Bait out slams and dive bombs for big damage punish windows
  • Use summon spirits to draw aggro like Mimic Tear, Black Knife, Fingercreepers etc
  • Maintain close proximity to avoid ranged holy attacks
  • Utilize 100% damage block shield against bigger hits when needed
  • Dodge horizontal tail sweeps then counterattack the head/torso
  • Respec stats if struggling to min-max damage potential
  • Co-op summons divides beast‘s attention for easier criticals
  • Rot/poison application works very well if you can out-sustain the DoT duration
  • Weapon buffs like Royal Knight‘s Resolve before jumping heavies

Learning moveset timings while staying aggressive is key. With high vigor, heavy armor, damage buffs and summon spirits it becomes more manageable. Stay determined!
