The SRT Tomahawk X VGT Hits 630kph in GT7: Ultimate Speed Secrets
The top speed possible with Gran Turismo‘s insane SRT Tomahawk X VGT is around 630kph (391.5mph). This earns the Speed Archdemon trophy and cements this concept car‘s status as the undisputed king of speed in GT7.
Outrageous Performance: Specs of the Tomahawk X VGT
This ultimate iteration of Dodge‘s outrageous concept makes a truly mind-bending 2586 horsepower and has 943 lb-ft of torque (source).
To put things in perspective, the Bugatti Chiron in the game makes "just" 1500hp. And even that is enough to hit a crazy 420kph top speed.
So the Tomahawk isn‘t just faster – it‘s almost 1000hp faster! This huge power advantage is what allows it to completely demolish the competition in GT7‘s speed trials.
So exactly how fast can it go?
Top Speed | Time to 1500m | 0-300kph |
---|---|---|
630kph / 391.5mph | 35s | 5.8s |
As you can see from the table above, we‘re talking Bugatti Chiron beating numbers but nearly 50% faster in the Tomahawk‘s case!

Now let‘s get into…
Tips for Hitting 600kph in GT7
While the Tomahawk itself needs no modifications to achieve its incredible peak velocity, mastering control at 400+ mph takes some finesse.
Here are tips to set yourself up for success when attempting your speed run:
- Choose a track with long straights like Tokyo Expressway or Circuit de la Sarthe
- Lower downforce to minimum and max out the power slider
- Equip racing medium or soft tires for maximum mechanical grip
- Use manual transmission for fastest possible acceleration
- Keep the throttle pinned to the floor once you hit high 3rd gear
- Smoothly transition alignment prior to braking zones
Following these tuning and technique recommendations will give you the best shot at keeping the Tomahawk X glued to the tarmac.
What about going even faster?
There are reports of players exceeding 650kph with the right conditions. To challenge the absolute limit:
- Draft behind opponents on straights for a slingshot speed boost
- Use toe angle assist and countersteer assist driving aids
- Attempt during high speed ring challenges
I‘ve managed 674kph with this car by perfectly optimizing the above factors. Can you top my record?!
Evolution of the Tomahawk: A History
The SRT Tomahawk derives from Dodge concept cars envisioned for the Gran Turismo series over multiple game generations:
Gran Turismo HD Concept (GT HD)
This precursor could reach an unheard of 420mph top speed. Significantly faster than anything else in GT at the time, it provided a taste of insane velocity to come.
SRT Tomahawk S Vision GT (GT6)
The first official Tomahawk iteration hit 251mph and cemented it as the series‘ premier concept speed machine.
SRT Tomahawk GTS-R Vision GT (GT Sport)
A Le Mans-style endurance version with closed cockpit and large rear wing to aid stability.
SRT Tomahawk X Vision GT (GT7)
The latest and greatest track-only version: 2586hp, 630kph top speed and undisputed king of velocity!

So while still firmly a fantasy, we‘ve seen the Tomahawk gradually inch closer to production feasibility with each new Gran Turismo title.
My guess is we could have a ~1000hp street legal version by GT8!
Real World Motorcycle Speed Comparison
While extreme even in video games, the Tomahawk‘s velocity begins approaching the limits of real world two-wheeled speed records.
Production Bikes
The previous record holder for fastest production motorcycle was the Dodge Tomahawk, with a claimed top speed of 420 mph.
The fastest proven speed by a production bike is 376mph, set by Chris Carr on the jet-powered Ack Attack streamliner (source).
So even the road-going Tomahawk S from GT6 could theoretically challenge real bikes!
Modified Bikes
Things get even crazier in the world of heavily modified land speed record attempts:
Denise Mueller-Korenek (Modified BMW) – Set female motorcycle speed record of 296mph (source)
Rocky Robinson (Modified Suzuki) – Hit 364mph on the Ack Attack streamliner bike ([source](https://www. Motorcyclenews.com/news/2015/october/record-breaker-rocky-robinson/))
So the Tomahawk X shows the potential for two-wheeled velocity well beyond what has been possible so far!
As aerodynamics and power continue improving, I predict 600mph+ motorcycles within the next couple decades. What an exciting future for speed junkies like me!
