The Hardest and Rarest Titles to Earn in Destiny 2

As a long-time Destiny 2 player and content creator, I get a lot of questions on what the most difficult and rarest titles in the game are to earn. After digging into the stats, researching requirements, and drawing from firsthand experience, I can definitively say that the "MMXIX" seal from Moments of Triumph 2019 stands in a tier of its own when it comes to insane feats of skill and commitment required.

The Pinnacle of Prestige: MMXIX Title

Earned by only 9.86% of all Guardians, this elusive title is the absolute rarest accolade you can flex in Destiny 2. But it comes at no small cost. To put into perspective how ludicrous the requirements were, you needed to:

  • Complete all 6 raid challenges in a single week
  • Finish 75 total Moments of Triumph triumphs before time expired
  • Collector triumph required acquiring 400 items across weapons, armor, ghosts, ships etc.
  • Reach Glory Rank "Legend" in PvP Survival
  • 100% all destinations, including Chests, Lost Sectors, Adventures, etc.

This amounted to easily 300-400 hours of total playtime if you were highly skilled, coordinated and committed to an intense grind. I myself pulled multiple all-nighters spamming raid checkpoints and PvP with an elite team, but many hardcore players still came up short.

Ultimately out of Destiny 2‘s 30+ seals, Moments of Triumph 2019 stands in the "Top 0.1%" tier when rating difficulty due to the tremendous dedication and well-rounded mastery of every activity demanded. Expect this feat may never be replicated again by Bungie!

Beyond Light‘s Elusive Title: Splintered

Moving beyond MMXIX, the next rarest title is Splintered from the Beyond Light expansion. Awarded for completing challenging Empire Hunts and various Exo Challenges, it sits at 15.81% player acquisition.

The reason Splintered is so difficult comes down to skill checks that require precision combat and jumping puzzles far beyond typical Destiny gameplay:

  • Multiple boss fights with Ascendant jumping puzzles intertwined
  • Timer limits forcing flawless runs under extreme pressure
  • Empire Hunts locked to Beyond Light ownership further limiting eligibility

For even the most battle-hardened veterans, the tight margins of error make Splintered an immensely frustrating title to earn. Personally it showed me the importance of patience and persistence under pressure!

Trials of Osiris Flawless Title

On the PvP side of the equation, the Flawless title stands as the ultimate badge of honor for the Crucible elite. Requiring players go Flawless (7 wins on a ticket without losing) multiple times in Trials of Osiris, it currently sits at 8.68% acquisition.

Aside from tremendous gunskill, reflexes and game sense, luck also plays a role with matchmaking putting your ticket against even the slightest mismatches in skill. Here is a comparison of requirements for the normal and gilded variants:

RequirementFlawless TitleGilded Flawless Title
Flawless Tickets3 tickets6 tickets
Wins on a Flawless Ticket14 wins25 wins
Total Wins100 wins250 wins

As you can see, the dedication to grind out hundreds of wins in the Crucible‘s most competitive mode takes serious skill and time investment. Having a regular team is almost mandatory. Huge respect to those that push through the frustration to stand above the rest!

Final Verdict: MMXIX Reigns Supreme

While certainly no easy feats, the more "recent" titles beyond MMXIX feel somewhat more attainable to me at least compared to the 400 hour marathon it demanded. So for my money, that limited time Moments of Triumph 2019 seal stands in a tier of its own as the hardest and rarest Destiny 2 has offered to date.

I‘m curious to hear your thoughts and questions in the comments section. Which title was most frustrating for you to earn? Do you think any current/future titles may dethrone MMXIX? Let me know, I love talking shop with fellow guardians!

Eyes up out there and may RNGesus be on your side. This is Jeff signing off for now. Catch you starside!
