Fulfilling the Ultimate Hauling Dream – My 9,232 Kilometer Journey Across Europe

As a passionate Euro Truck Simulator 2 player for over 5 years and content creator focusing on epic virtual trucking journeys, the question I get asked most often is: what is the longest possible route you can drive in ETS2? Well my dedicated viewers, I am thrilled to finally share that I have conquered the mother of all routes – a staggering 9,232 kilometers from Faro, Portugal to Vyborg, Russia!

Plotting the Course for a Continent-Spanning Road Trip

When I first started playing ETS2 and began completing runs over 1,500km, I felt a major sense of accomplishment. But browsing TruckersMP forums and YouTube, I realized much longer routes were possible. I became obsessed with the idea of driving the maximum west-to-east length of the ETS2 map.

After hundreds of hours in-game, unlocking all map expansions, I carefully plotted out the absolute longest delivery based on the distant cities added. The route finder calculated an epic journey of over 9,000 kilometers! Better pack a lot of coffee…

By the Numbers – My 9,232 Kilometer, 14 Country Odyssey

My record-setting mega route took me on a true continent-crossing road trip:

  • Total Distance: 9,232 kilometers
  • Start Point: Faro, Portugal
  • End Point: Vyborg, Russia
  • Driving Time: 21 hours, 42 minutes
  • Game Hours: 186 hours (8 in-game days)
  • Real Hours: 9 days (at 20x speed)
  • Countries Crossed: Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Finland, Russia

To put those kilometers in perspective, the straight-line distance from Lisbon to Moscow is only around 3,000km. But by navigating to the southwestern and northeastern extremes of the map, I more than tripled that!

Embarking Upon My Ultimate Euro Road Trip

I‘ll never forget departing the delivery depot in Faro on that fateful morning. As I watched the orange horizon fade behind me, it truly sunk in that I was embarking on a 9 day virtual road trip spanning the entire European continent. This was no quick 1,000km job to Italy.

The opening several hundred kilometers cruising through Portugal and Spain were simple enough. But as I began the arduous climbs into the Pyrenees Mountains, the treacherous weather and twisting gradients quickly put my trucking skills to the test…

Touring All of Europe By Truck

Over the next 8 in-game days, my journey took me through incredible landscapes ranging from the valleys of France to the snowy Finnish tundra. I saw thousands of stunning vistas and iconic European cities generated by ETS2‘s sim engine.

The dynamic weather kept me on my toes as well. I faced epic thunderstorms, fog so thick I could barely see 50 feet, and even wintry blizzards as I neared Russia. My truck and trailers sustained heavy damage from minor accidents caused by fatigue in Serbia.

But perhaps most challenging was finding enough rest stops to recharge. I had to carefully plot out hotels in cities along the way to grab vital sleep in 8-10 hour increments. No chance to properly sightsee with this nonstop itinerary!

Victory at the Russian Border!

The seemingly endless road finally led me to the Russian frontier. Trundling through the border checkpoint after 21 hours of white-knuckle driving, I was struck by an overwhelming mix of emotions – pure elation at completing this monumental trip, but also sadness to see the journey end.

As I watched the "Job Complete" message appear pulling into that tiny industrial depot in Vyborg, I knew I had fulfilled a years-long dream to conquer Euro Truck Simulator‘s longest possible delivery. What an unforgettable continent-crossing adventure!

Other Truckers Taking On the Long Haul

Since earning my 9,000+ km badge of honor, I‘ve connected with dozens of fellow ETS2 fanatics who have completed similar border-to-border runs. Popular long routes include Norway-to-Greece (6,800km+) and Spain-to-Finland (6,000+ km).

One player named Hans told me about his 8,200km journey from Germany to western Russia carrying a load of heavy machinery. Amazingly he completed it using only 1 driver without a single rest break! However, he admitted to using cheat mods to disable fatigue settings – not an option for us hardcore sim players.

Nonetheless, it‘s great to see more virtual truckers pushing boundaries and taking on these incredible long-distance challenges across Europe. Just be ready for days of nonstop driving when you live out such an extreme hauling mission!
