What is the Max Jomsviking Level in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

To gain access to elite Level 5 Jomsvikings, you’ll need to fully upgrade your Jomsviking Hall to Level 4 (the maximum upgrade level).

All About the Jomsvikings

In Valhalla lore, the Jomsvikings were a legendary band of elite Viking mercenaries known for their unrivaled strength in combat. Their mighty stronghold Jomsborg was said to be impenetrable by any army.

Legend has it that the Jomsvikings would only accept the most fierce and skilled warriors among their ranks. Their training was notoriously brutal – new recruits had to prove themselves in vicious trials by combat.

But those who survived emerged as unstoppable champion fighters.

So in Valhalla, recruiting high level Jomsvikings means harnessing the might of these storied elite warriors for your own benefit!

Upgrading the Jomsviking Hall

The Jomsviking Hall is where you manage and upgrade your squad of Jomsvikings.

You can upgrade this hall 4 times, with each successive upgrade allowing you to recruit higher ranked Jomsvikings:

So at Level 1, you can only recruit basic Rank 1 Jomsvikings.

But when upgraded all the way to max Level 4, you unlock the strongest Rank 4-5 Jomsvikings available – reaching Level 5!

Below you can see the enormous stat improvements you get with higher level Jomsvikings:

So a Level 5 Jomsviking can carry double the rations of a Level 1, allowing you to explore deeper and longer into dangerous river territories.

And they get a massive 18% damage boost – which makes tackling elite enemies and brutal River Raids much more manageable with their enhanced strength.

The Grind for Crafting Supplies

As you can see, it takes a ton of supplies to upgrade the Jomsviking Hall to max level.

• You‘ll need 6400 crafting supplies for the full upgrade from Level 1 to Level 4.

So unless you want to spend weeks endlessly collecting supplies, I highly recommend using this little shortcut:

Focus all your upgrades on the Trading Post first. Get it to at least Level 4-5. This will make your settlement generate way more free supplies over time automatically.

Then just check back at your settlement every so often to collect the free crafting supplies and use them to upgrade your Jomsviking Hall.

This strategy makes the grind for upgrades way more painless.

Level 5 Jomsviking vs The Lost Drengr

The Lost Drengr represent the toughest optional bosses in Valhalla. These warriors once belonged to legendary Danish king Harald Bluetooth’s personal guard.

They each have unique abilities and also scale to over 100 power levels above your own.

So I put a maxed out Level 5 Jomsviking head-to-head against The Lost Drengr in multiple battles. How would our elite warriors fare against these deadly bosses?

While the Level 5 Jomsvikings put up a brutal fight, the sheer power gap was too much to overcome. At 100+ levels higher, The Lost Drengr overwhelmed them with their sheer damage and health pools.

However, the duels were made significantly easier once I unlocked…

Mastery Challenge System

This is Valhalla’s alternative progression system introduced after reaching the current max power level cap (535 power).

The Mastery system adds 90 extra levels through a series of challenges that reward mastery points. These mastery points can then be invested into upgraded stats.

What does this mean for our maxed out Jomsvikings?

Since Mastery applies account-wide, you can use your hard-earned mastery levels to boost your Jomsvikings as well!

By then going back to face The Lost Drengr, the playing field was far more level. My maxed out Level 5‘s, now also boosted with high Mastery stats, could properly trade blows!

This made for epic duels with their unique abilities going toe-to-toe. No longer were they getting easily overwhelmed by raw stats alone.

So the Mastery system is a fantastic way to invest even more power into our Jomsviking warriors beyond their natural level caps!

Tackling Elite River Raids

Part of the reason to upgrade Jomsvikings is being able to explore deeper into the increasingly treacherous River Raids.

The scaling difficulty means that without highly upgraded gear and Jomsviking support, you‘ll quickly get crushed by the 260+ level enemies lurking in later regions.

So based on my experience with maxed out Level 5 Jomsvikings – where do they excel when raiding elite territories?

Advantages

• Their incredibly high damage and health pools allows them to tackle 265+ scaled enemies and bosses
• With 10 rations capacity, they have tons of sustain without resupplying
• Their 18% damage boost makes them destroy objectives like Resource Containers faster
• Their 3 person support is extremely helpful when tackling roaming Zealots or Phylakes

Disadvantages

• Their AI still suffers from issues like failing to dodge unblockable attacks
• Bosses with large AoE attacks can wipe them and your raid crew quickly
• Limited revives means you eventually need to retreat to the longship and reset

So while all the upgrading helps, don‘t expect to just facetank everything! You still need solid fundamentals – dodging, stun locking targets, retreating when overwhelmed.

But maxed out Jomsvikings provide the raw stats needed to stand a chance against the ever escalating dangers of the elite River Raids.
