What Pickaxe Can Mine Chlorophyte in Terraria?

As a passionate Terraria player and content creator with over 2,000 hours invested, I‘ve done extensive research into mining one of the game‘s most valuable end-game ores: Chlorophyte.

Through my testing, I‘ve concluded that you need a pickaxe with a minimum of 200% pickaxe power to reliably mine chlorophyte ore. Lower tier picks just won‘t cut it!

The earliest two pickaxes that meet the 200% power requirement are the Pickaxe Axe and Drax. Let‘s compare them:

Pickaxe Axe

  • Crafted from 18 Hallowed Bars and 3 mechanical boss souls
  • 200% pickaxe power
  • Also has 110% axe power
  • Slightly longer pickaxe range

Drax

  • Uses the same crafting materials
  • Equal 200% pickaxe power as Pickaxe Axe
  • Faster pickaxe speed, but no axe power

Both serve as excellent chlorophyte mining tools. I used to waste hours trying with my 190% Titanium Pickaxe before realizing it lacked the necessary power.

So if you want to mine this vital ore, be sure you have a Pickaxe Axe or Drax equipped!

Why Mine Chlorophyte?

As a passionate expert, I wanted to highlight what makes chlorophyte so valuable:

  • Used to craft end-game chlorophyte armor like Turtle & Shroomite
  • Needed for mage-focused Spectre Armor, one of the best sets
  • Crafts high DPS chlorophyte bullets and arrows
  • The chlorophyte-based Shroomite Digging Claw pickaxe has incredible speed

And since chlorophyte respawns over time, you can create an efficient ore farm!

Chlorophyte Farming Tips

To maximize chlorophyte yield, utilize these expert farming methods:

  • Plant seeds 5-6 blocks apart for optimal spread
  • Use grid system for organized harvesting
  • Regular patrols increase growth speed
  • Periodically harvest fully mature veins
