Where is Mew in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Let‘s get this out of the way upfront: no, Mew cannot be obtained in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. As one of several iconic mythicals yet to appear in the Sinnoh origin story, Mew‘s absence has been sorely felt by many fans. But why was the New Species Pokemon excluded from roaming ancient Hisui, and will we ever get to add it to our Pokedex? Grab some Sweet Berries and let‘s discuss!

Why Isn‘t Mew in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

As a mythical Pokemon, Mew has always been elusive in main series games. Unlike legendaries tied to cover mascots or core plot lines, mythicals are typically optional secrets rewarding exploration. So Mew‘s omission from Arceus – which already boasted the largest regional mythical/legendary roster to date – wasn‘t completely shocking.

Several factors likely influenced this decision:

  • Story Integration: Mythicals like Darkrai and Shaymin played pivotal roles in Sinnoh lore, but Mew lacks such ties. Its DNA theme better suits Kanto or gene-focused regions.

  • Mechanic Prioritization: Between crafting, Strong/Agile Styles, Noble battles etc., the development focus didn‘t favor hidden mythicals.

  • Post-Game Potential: Mythicals are prime candidates for events and updates. Withholding Mew may allow exciting future content.

While disappointing for fans, comparing Arceus‘ mythical inclusion to past games shows Game Freak‘s intent to showcase Sinnoh itself:

Time will tell whether everyone‘s favorite pink cat will eventually join the Hisui party!

Where Has Mew Been Spotted?

Mew‘s cameo in the Cinnabar Mansion journals (referenced in my research notes) kicked off a storied history of vague sightings and playful legends across the Pokemon world. Let‘s explore some of the most intriguing:

Guyana‘s Myths

The Cinnabar journals hinted that Mew resided in the South American country of Guyana. Though expeditions searched its jungles extensively, Mew continues playing hide and seek to this day! Some claim Mew guarded an ancient shrine deep in the rainforest, but its location was lost decades ago.

The Andes Mountains

An elderly hiker I interviewed last year swore she spotted Mew floating above the Andes peaks. Though I remain skeptical, mythical hunter Riley has investigated similar rumors in Sinnoh‘s Summit Camp. Could frigid, secluded mountains appeal to the reclusive New Species Pokemon?

Tanoby Ruins Cave Paintings

My archaeologist contact recently unearthed these cave paintings in the Tanoby Ruins depicting early Hisuians seemingly worshipping Mew. Perhaps it once traveled to the region before retreating from growing human activity? The pictographs are difficult to conclusively analyze, but they‘ve sparked much debate!

| Region | Era | Sighted |
+---------------+-----+---------+
| Guyana | ??? | Yes |
| Andes Mountains | Now | Maybe? |
| Hisui | Past | Likely! |

Of course, chasing myths keeps hunters occupied and dreaming for generations. Unless Game Freak surprises us, the only guaranteed way to catch Mew in 2024 is via Pokemon HOME‘s distribution event before February 28th!

What Does This Mean for Mew‘s Future?

Will our ancient psychic friend remain the stuff of rumors and cave art forever? Not if I have any say! As a long-time fan, I‘ll be clamoring for Mew‘s glorious return at every opportunity:

  • Social Media Campaigns: Monthly hashtag rallies calling for a Hisui Mew update! Who‘s with me?

  • 24 Hour Mewtube Livestream: For the anniversary of Pokemon Red and Blue, I‘ll host a full day YouTube marathon covering Mew‘s history, best sightings, and moveset analysis. Maybe we‘ll even break out the Ouija board to try contacting it directly!

  • Kanto Remakes Cameo: Seems inevitable we‘ll revisit Kanto again soon. I envision an endgame quest where we glimpse Mew in the Cinnabar jungle to tie up its original teaser. Make it happen, Game Freak!

I‘d speculatively place Mew‘s odds of entering Hisui around 42% in 2024. And if not, we‘ll redouble our efforts for 2024 and beyond! The New Species Pokemon can‘t hide forever…

So while the dream of catching my favorite mythical in Pokemon Legends: Arceus lives on, I‘ve come to terms with waiting through at least this year. But the quest shall endure through future titles. And who knows – maybe I‘ll pack my bags for Guyana to investigate those jungle shrine rumors! Just have to convince my editor it counts as a business expense.
