Which Archons are Male in Genshin Impact as of 2023

Let‘s settle this debate once and for all – Venti and Zhongli are the only male archons so far in Genshin Impact. With tons of new regions and archons planned for 2023 and beyond, I‘ll break down everything we know about the gender ratio among The Seven along with my own theories as a lore expert.

The Current Archons: Venti, Zhongli and the Ladies

First, a quick refresher on the seven Archons and their associated elements and regions:

Of these seven gods, Venti and Zhongli are stated to be male without ambiguity. As two of the original Seven existing since the Archon War, they‘ve firmly established themselves over their realms after thousands of years.

However, the count for male archons ends there as far as we currently know. Raiden, Nahida, and the speculated identities of upcoming archons use feminine names and terminology.

And before you ask – no, none of them have been clearly confirmed to not have an actual gender like the adepti. So for now, I think it‘s safe to count all remaining archons as female until stated otherwise.

My own theory is that this gender divide could be intentional by Celestia or destiny. Perhaps men were seen as too ambitious or warlike, leading figures like the Tsaritsa down dark paths. So fate decreed more balanced, compassionate goddesses would shepherd humanity instead. But that may change…

The OG Anemo Boy – Venti‘s Role as Weakest Archon

As the Archon of Freedom, Venti marches to the beat of his own drum without a care in the world. Though he may seem carefree, his heart holds wisdom and hope gained over millennia of guiding Mondstadt.

In fact, Venti is considered the weakest Archon in raw strength after willfuly relinquishing much of his powers centuries ago. This coincided with his hands-off, libertarian approach to governing, allowing humanity‘s independence to thrive for good or ill.

  • Original anemo archon who won the spot after Decarabian fell
  • Also goes by Barbatos, the god of wind
  • Took the form of teen boy to appear nonthreatening
  • Sacrificed a lot of Strength to cut ties between divinity and humanity
  • Very popular among bards and wine enthusiasts

So while the carefree bard may not shape kingdoms or command armies, none can deny his eternal wisdom and the kindness in his heart. Let your spirit fly free whenever you gaze upon this boyish god!

Rex Lapis‘ Order: Zhongli‘s Contracts Protect Liyue

In contrast to Venti‘s whimsical nature, the Geo Archon Zhongli is the bedrock upon which Liyue stands firm. As the oldest of The Seven, his deals and contracts imposed structure upon lawless lands, providing stability for mortal ambition to take hold.

Some fascinating history about Rex Lapis himself:

• Fought brutal Archon Wars but spared child hero Guizhong
• Eventually co-founded Liyue with her before her death
• Very popular as a consultant – especially regarding funerals
• Stepped down in one of history‘s most elaborate fakes deaths

Now living as humble consultant Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Zhongli‘s shrewd wisdom forged over aeons continues serving Liyue in times of upheaval. But if threats ever return, have no doubt the taciturn warrior-god will don his stone-cold Exuvia armor once again!

Upcoming Archons – Any Hope for More Males?

With the original Seven‘s ranks split 5-2 in favor of goddess rule, could future members tip the scales back towards masculinity? Let‘s analyze murmerings around the network to gauge chances:

Pyro Archon Murata

Referred to in texts as the "Goddess of War" and "Lady of Fire", positive feminine vibes here. Odds of being male: 15%

Hydro Archon

No name or details, but debated as potential first male new archon. Counter-theory is Hydro represents justice, traditionally female virtue. Odds: 55% male

Cryo Archon Tsaritsa

Called "Gentle Ideal of Femininity", but went through major cataclysm to become hardened rebel. Still likely female but shows fluidity. Odds: 30%

My Projection for 2025:

• 2 Confirmed Male Archons: Venti, Zhongli
• 4 Confirmed Female Archons: Raiden, Nahida, Murata, Tsaritsa
• 1 Unconfirmed Gender, Leaning Female: God of Justice

Of course I could be totally wrong, but based on available leaks, I‘d temper hopes for a third male archon reveal. Then again, predictions are often shattered in this game, so here‘s hoping!

Conclusion: Venti & Zhongli Fly the Banner for Males

At the current count in 2024, Venti and Zhongli stand alone as Genshin Impact‘s only male Archons. The four identified since them embrace traditional feminine aspects like wisdom, nurture and fluidity to balance their immense power.

While we may yet see shifts towards fire, war and order again with new Archons, ending the age of goddess rule, it seems destiny favors the ladies upholding heaven and earth for now.

But the boisterous bard and taciturn warrior-god still stand tall to represent masculinity among the divine Seven. So raise a toast in old Mondstadt or offer a contract signing in Liyue harbor to salute Venti and Zhongli – two immortals proudly carrying the banner as Genshin‘s male Archons!
