Who is Luigi‘s Love Interest?
As an avid Mario fan, one subplot I‘ve always adored is the budding relationship between Luigi and Princess Daisy. While Nintendo has still never outright confirmed "Luaisy" as an official couple, they‘ve been hinting at their compatibility for over 30 years across Mario spin-off media. As a passionate gamer and shipping enthusiast, I firmly believe Daisy is Luigi‘s one true love interest! Their affection seems as destined as Mario‘s endless pursuit of Princess Peach.
First Meeting in 1989 – A Match Made for Player 2
Daisy first debuted as the damsel-in-distress of 1989‘s Super Mario Land for Game Boy. She was created as a new female counterpart to pair up with Luigi, finally giving Mario‘s lanky brother his own princess! Her design even mirrored Peach‘s graphical style on the limited Game Boy screen. Daisy was tailor-made to fill a nostalgic role as Luigi‘s destined partner.
Repeated Partnerships Across Mario Sports and Spin-Offs
While Daisy disappeared for a few years afterward, she resurfaced with a vengeance in later Mario sports and party games. This new era in the early 2000s marked the beginning of her and Luigi consistently being portrayed as a team:

These hints have led many fans to view them as video game‘s cutest "will-they-won‘t-they" couple. While far from definitive confirmation, it‘s clear the seeds are there for Luigi and Daisy‘s compatibility.
Nintendo‘s Long-Running "Unsolved Romance"
However, in over 30 years across dozens of Mario series games, Nintendo has never formalized Luigi and Daisy as an official romantic relationship. Some explanations for why include:

For now, I choose to believe Princess Daisy is absolutely Luigi‘s one true soulmate and love interest. Their destined partnership playing second fiddle to Mario and Peach is just too cute! All the hints across years of Mario games aren‘t coincidental – Luaisy forever!
